RIP Norm you ol' chunk of coal Got to see him live at the JFL gala a few years back. He might not have been the funniest man in the world but he was certainly among the top 2. Also, as an aside the Norm MacDonald live show is probably the funniest thing ever, I'm going to revisit starting with the Super Dave episode
One of my all-time favourite stand-up comics and he dies. Damn. More than that, he appeared to be a really good nice guy as well. He has a son whom I'm estimating is about 25.
This is an absolute tragedy. The man was, for my money, the single funniest comedian alive right now. He had profound knowledge of the art of comedy and of its history, he didn't care for wokism and political correctness, he was smart and well-read, he could do imitations, ad-lib, high-minded and profane stuff, everything. His podcast on Youtube is still the funniest thing I've ever seen on the medium, and his book is a classic that I reread all the time. Apparently he kept his cancer hidden to the public for close to ten years.
I was just watching Norm’s stand-up special on Netflix last night and thinking how refreshing it is that a comedian can still be funny without being vulgar or political.
SNL's Canadian comedians: Lorne Michaels Dan Aykroyd Peter Aykroyd Martin Short Phil Hartman Mike Myers Norm Macdonald Mark McKinney Thanks, Canada.
It wound explain his last (or 2nd-last?) special that was mostly about death and cancer. He admitted being always afraid of death. Hope he's at peace wherever he is.
I saw Norm do a very un-pc bit on parents being proud of their gay children on Letterman's (?) show that made me laugh so hard, I couldn't breathe.... never been able to find it on youtube. RIP Norm... Always try to watch the Christmas episode for The Norm Show during the holidays.
