He'll be missed. I always enjoyed his humor and his ability to laugh about anything. His role as Pigeon on Mike Tyson Mysteries was pure gold.
I heard a lot of people wondering why Norm didn't appear on Conan's final week of regular broadcasts. Sadly, I think we now know why.
Wow . I spent a lot of time on you tube watching his appearances on talk shows. Incredibly offbeat and funny.
Even Frank Stallone is checking in with his tribute.. norm was such a funny and real person. Will never be another like him..rip Login • Instagram
Conan O'Brien on Twitter: I am absolutely devastated about Norm Macdonald. Norm had the most unique comedic voice I have ever encountered and he was so relentlessly and uncompromisingly funny. I will never laugh that hard again. I'm so sad for all of us today.
Gut punched about it. Loved ya, Norm. Such a stoic personality. Never made a peep about it. Referenced God when asked, told dirty jokes in safe spaces, named names on Saturday Nights when he had the seat. Honorary outlaw in my book.
“In every important way, in the world of stand-up, Norm was the best. An opinion shared by me and all peers. Always up to something, never certain, until his matter-of-fact delivery leveled you. I was always delighted by his bizarre mind and earnest gaze. (I’m trying to avoid using the phrase, “twinkle in his eyes”). He was a lifetime Cy Young winner in comedy. Gone, but impossible to forget.” Dave Letterman
Last thing I watched with him in it was The Orville, where he was the voice of an alien crewman-blob. He was great. RIP Norm.
To me that's key to comedic creativity. Just look at all the comedians that pander in one way or another to whatever group or partisan agenda. To me, they're almost never funny while Norm MacDonald was almost always funny. That he will.
RIP Norm Macdonald...very sad news to read today...RIP (Turd Ferguson, Burt Reynolds, so many great jokes too! )
Fun pedantry: The Cy Young is for a single season, Dave. Hall Of Fame for career. No wonder Indy never got a MLB team. Norm wore on me on Update, to be honest. I was glad they fired him, I wanted to punch him in the end. Guess it's too late for that! Maybe not, though! Open casket? Anyone here ever punch a corpse? A uniquely funny guy, certainly. I can still call him a guy, right? Did he identify as anything else? I'm sure he would have wanted to be correctly identified.
I heard this on NPR driving home from bringing my daughter to work. I was shocked by the news, and very saddened to hear about his passing. Good journey Mr. Macdonald, I'll miss you.
I can't believe he was still so active battling cancer the past nine years. Here he talks about keeping a diagnosis quiet.
