I'm not a fan of Ryan Reynolds, but as a video game nerd, this might still be a fun movie for me. I'll have to check it out sometime.
This late in the game, it would be easy to find a completely empty theater - for less than the cost of a pay per view. Here is tonight's 7PM show at AMC Studio 28: This is a bigger screen than yours, and a ticket is $9.95.
Not bad... Kinda of 'hodge-podge' of "Ready Player One", "the Matrix" And... "The Truman Show".. I never realized how Jim Carrey-esque Mr. Reynolds can be!
I saw this last weekend. Now, I am not the target audience for either CGI-fests or for video game based movies. But I thought it was very good. Yes, it's mile a minute CGI. Mile a minute paced. But there were a bunch of good laugh lines that hit, and the human story was good. If you like Deadpool, this is Ryan Reynolds in a similar mode.
Ryan is great, as unusual, but the plot is beyond idiotic. Be prepared to suspend your disbelief farther than you may be comfortable with.
Well, we had to do that with both Deadpool movies, but it didn't affect how much I loved them and Reynolds' performances. He really is a very unique actor...
He's a great, unique actor, but this plot stretches reality far beyond the likes of Deadpool. The characters are also mostly one dimensional (excepting Ryan). That said, I'm not the target audience as I don't play video games, so take that into account when judging my negative assessment.
That's fine. I haven't seen the film yet (and I'm no longer a video gameplayer) but I'll wait for any more comments until after I see the film...
Look at it this way: You probably don't believe toys can talk, and you probably don't play with the toys you'd find in a toy trunk anymore. Yet, Toy Story was really good.
My wife and I are Boomers, and we loved it! This film is going to be so incredibly repeatable on home video, looking for all the ridiculous little extras, like when Guy is withdrawing money from the ATM, there's a character jumping, flipping and running into a wall over and over again. And all these hilarious signs all over the place while wearing the player sunglasses.
you took it wrong or I did not explain it properly it ...The MOVIE is not geared towards boomers...not that boomers will not like it...cleared up?
Okay. My wife and I don't watch any sports, and have never played any sports, but can still really enjoy movies about sports.
I haven't seen it, but when I first watched the previews I thought the actress in it was Katherine Heigl
I enjoyed buying and watching this on Amazon Prime. I wasn't sure I'd understand it, since I don't know the first thing about video games, but it was a very enjoyable way to spend 2 hours!
