Moving soon so cleaning up the house and garage and packing some things and throwing away other things. That's hell in itself but that's another story.

Anyway .... came across a box with dozens of DVD-Rs some of which I never even bothered to watch and now never will.
But also came across a few semi-forgotten gems and ' Drag Me To Hell' is one of them.

I had forgotten about this movie and another viewing of it made me appreciate it even more.

    Any fans?

Hell yes! I watched this in the theatre and I absolutely loved it. One of the better later days horror movies.
Not super scary but very entertaining. I recently bought it on blu-ray so I will probably rewatch it during this Halloween season.

I don't think Justin Long gets enough appreciation.
Always like him in whatever movie I see him in.
He was great as the geeky nerd in ' Galaxy Quest' ( terrific movie) and as the computer hacker in the fourth Die Hard movie and as Gary Oldman's victim in the bizarre 'Tusk'.

And good here too as the non-believing boyfriend who is clueless until the last scene.

I love horror flicks but could never get into this movie. It bores me silly. Every now and then I’ll check it out and my feelings stay the same.

It was all good from the curse being cast clear to the end. A lesser film would have ran with the final girl meme and saved the day.

The only thing I didn't like about it: there was no cameo appearance by Bruce Campbell.

Only saw it once AGES AGO but I remember being quite impressed. Love to see Raimi go off on a horror flick like this.

Same here. I thought it was kind of dumb, and I am a big fan of horror movies.

Thought it was excellent with some truly terrifying scenes. The lead actress is very good,
and very attractive, but the most frightening is the elderly Gypsy woman who is truly
scary as hell. Every scene she's in is remarkable, especially in the parking garage.
Having her lose her dentures is unsettling, and the scene in the graveyard where she's
    not yet buried is horrifying.
But the best is after SHE'S DEAD in the wake in the home, and her coffin falls to the
ground, seeing the embalming fluid come out of her mouth and onto our heroine is
one of the grossest thing I had seen in a film in a long time.
    Extremely well done film....

I actually hate horror films but the good reviews got me to see this one in the theater back in the day. Really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it when I saw it in a theater as it was making a group of young women sream quite a bit. I got the DVD when it came out, but after a couple of viewings it seemed to be overly misogynstic and I hated it. Alison Lohman's character was treated far worsely than her crimes warranted IMHO. Not one of Sam's better ones.

Hahahah. You nailed what's great about this film. The GROSSNESS of that old lady. The embalming fluid was the WORST! Hahah. I mean GREAT!

I think it's a great horror film.... you can roll up all your freddies and jasons and dump them compared to this film which is actually scary because it works in ordinary life and the said gypsy is unforgettable. Ever since this film, I'm terrified of old E. European women. I swear. Believe me, I never say no to one. I'm always polite as hell so I dont get cursed.

I enjoyed that movie too, but if we're talking about Justin Long, his performance in Zack and Miri Make a Porno...in the actual movie and the extras...kills be every time.

    • (Justin Long) "I thought you recognized me from my work, but you're not my demographic so I'm not offended."
    • (Seth Rogen) "Well, who's your demographic?"
    • (Justin Long) "Do you like pu**y?"
    • (Seth Rogen) "Yeah."
    • (Justin Long) "Then not you."

    Brandon St. Randy! Hysterical.
Explaining he makes all male movies to Seth Rogen (Zack ) elicits this exchange:
Zack : Oh , like Glengarry Glen Ross '?
Brandon: More like Glen and Gary **** Ross's Meaty ****.

Never heard of it:magoo:........looks like I should further investigate........I usually follow strict guidelines when it comes
to horror flicks....only consider ones made in the 50's through 70's ......once the 80's began I'm MIA

I remember seeing the preview of Drag Me To Hell in a theater and I knew it was going to be good! The preview was most of the scene where the old woman was in the bank trying to persuade the bank lady to give her more time to make a payment before throwing her out of her house. A great film, I love it.

I hope you gave the 1980 horror film The Shining a chance!
Drag Me To Hell is a great one too.
