Part 7. According to Hinman’s book, Ray intentionally booked studio time on the evening of the plays broadcast so the rest of the band wouldn’t see it. A sly move that would be impossible to pull off today with digital/watch again services of course!

It's totally mad but I'm curious as to how it's resolved. I suppose a guest appearance by a Dalek is out of the question?

Don’t know what quite to make of this show so far. I can imagine this instead as a pre-filmed 7 or 8 minute SNL skit circa 1976 with John Belushi. 50 minutes seems like a lot for this premise.

Well by 50 minutes you may have a demise?

It's kind of intriguing that we start seeing the effects start kicking in here.
The wife starts to feel this is a waste of time, and the manager starts getting dogmatic, while the subject is determined yet struggling.
A lot of little metaphors creeping into the story. Everybody wants a piece of our boy.
The people watching seem to have that freakshow mentality. They sort of mock him, yet if he succeeds in his essentially pointless exercise, they will likely to to absorb some of that success, as people do.
And again, I'm interested in where they will go with this.

Or even better, make them two singles w/different B-sides. Here's the actual video for the latter song:

I don't think so. I doubt that the BBC had an extra £5 in their budget to make one from paper mache

Seriously, the fact that this survives in B&W is no problem. Judging from the terraced houses & the inside setting, any colors would had been drab shades of red & brown. I get a Victorian/Dickensian vibe watching these clips.

Sorry, Headmaster Winstanley, I won't, I promise. I don't want to write "I won't post songs that we aren't up to yet." a 1000x (I did a 9 yr. stretch at Catholic school)

Ray was actually supposed to be in an SNL skit in the late-70s when The Kinks appeared on the show but the sketch got cancelled for whatever reason. They didn't film it.

I believe in 1978 some skits Belushi shot with the Stones were either not shown or soon banned.

I think the real reason was that some of the Stones were, erm, stoned. I have that episode on DVD & Keef and Ronnie were customers in the Chicago Deli ("cheeseburger, cheeseburger, Pepsi, Pepsi!) sketch & had no lines. Mick was in another sketch being interviewed by Dan Ackroyd as Tom Snyder. Also, the Stones practiced a bit too hard & Mick blew out his voice.

I have seen those skits but I was referring to drug related content in a skit (spoken I thought) with Belushi & perhaps also Keith.

I think Ray's acting is pretty good. not over the top...just where it should be. But have to admit I am not following the story that closely.

But Marathon is otherwise known as the Time Song, right? Or at least it's was inspired by it. Sorry if I missed something earlier about this.

Time Song makes me so melancholy. Where does it fit in with this "project"?
