Anyone else excited!?!? My favorite director working today. For anyone not aware, Cooper Hoffman is the son of PTA’s closest collaborator Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Absolutely loving the vibe and the look in the trailer.
Haha no but the record store may come into play in the film. But I guessing it has more to do with tying to the era.
Looking forward to what the soundtrack has in store. The songs he used in Boogie Nights we’re fantastic and like that film I’m guessing the soundtrack will mostly be made up of songs from the era. still no word on whose handling the original soundtrack.
that looks very.... very....something Actually: glad I can't figure it out from the trailer. Would be nice to good to a movie that was actually original in concept and tone.
I know it looks more like a cute and heartwarming indie film I would not see than a PTA film. He must have kids that age he’s trying to educate.
I PTA is hit and miss but he's certainly an original, and his ambitions are always welcome, and have been since Hard 8
It did get a R rating and PTA is never one to give too much away. Either way it’s PTA so his mark will be all over it regardless the type of film.
Love PTA but “Hard 8” was a miss for me. Boogie nights was his first great film. Hard 8 left me cold. Everybody wants to make a gambling movie but I’m never that thrilled by them … they’re so gritty. Every time I watch a film about professional gambler’s I feel like I spent a clammy night at a motel six.
Hard 8 is cool but the production company screwed Paul over big time on that one. They took it and edited themselves. When he finally was able to edit the film himself they had cut up a lot of the master and he was forced to use different takes of scenes in order to put it together.
This looks fun. I got nothing out of Phantom Thread, so hoping this will strike a better chord with me.
A deep dive into Hard 8 (aka Sydney) if anyone's interested Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Hard Eight’, AKA ‘Sydney’: “It’s Always Good to Meet a New Friend” • Cinephilia & Beyond
I'm not particularly. I guess it's the subject material and young love that doesn't interest me at all.
