Sequels that carry straight on

I started watching "Halloween 2" last week, which I'd never seen before. I was interested to see that the first scene seems to be a continuation of the final scene from Halloween 1.

I'm wondering which other film sequels do the same. I thought of Aliens. Are there any others?

Back to the Future 2 & 3, with 2's being re-shot.

 

Are there any that alter the last scene of the previous film, like BTTF does by replacing Claudia Wells with Elisabeth Shue?

 

The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.

 

Incredibles 2 picks up where the first Incredibles movie ends.

The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted.

 

Friday the 13th Part 3 kind of does in a cheating way with the tv newscast.

 

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III: The Search For Spock.

 

Karate Kid 1 & 2. The intro in Karate Kid 2 is literally a scene immediately following the tournament that was left on the cutting room floor and edited out of KK1.

 

"Beneath the Planet of the Apes" picks up right where the original "Planet of the Apes" left off...

 

“Force 10 from Navarone” opens with Mallory and Miller on the deck of the British destroyer when the “The Guns of Navarone” were destroyed. However instead of Gregory Peck and David Niven, it is now Robert Shaw and Edward Fox.

I think the 1970s Richard Lester versions of “The Three Musketeers” and “Four Musketeers” were pretty close since it was originally made as one film. Then when they decided to split it in two, the actors objected as they signed to do one picture.

 

This is one of the more radical ones as I don't think Quantum of Solace works on it's own, but if you watch it back-to-back with Casino Royale its quite enjoyable.

Isn’t ED2 a remake of ED1 and not a sequel?

But yes 3 (Army of Darkness) does start where 2 cuts off… even if the actor has aged seven years for some reason….

 

Actually, it appears that scene was newly shot for KK2. Pat Morita's beard is a little different, and that's a dead giveaway.

 

King Kong/Son of Kong

 

It's going back a bit but as I remember it, 1 ends with Ash being dragged through the woods and about to be posessed and then dawn breaks, saving him. At the start of 2 there is a long prologue which is a sort of abridged remake of part 1 (and it is different) but then it gets dark again and the action picks up from the end of 1.

So I would say it picks up directly from where it left off but at the same time changes what went before!

 

Porky's II, The Next Day?

 

Don't all the Phantasm films pick up where the last ended?
