I hate to contradict talk show hosts as a matter of policy but this is great

Celebration Ensemble Agusti Fernandez et al.

In contrast to the ensemble piece on River, Tiger, Fire this seems to be more improvised....really outstanding stuff

Nipples & More Nipples (same sessions) are among the most intense and also among the greatest slabs of improvised music ever made.

Herr Brotzmann is inhuman. Never been a sound like his. And when he was young it was uncorked.

Agree, and I will only add that Ayler broke the inhuman barrier on his horn on more then a few occasions, for which I'm certain Pete would agree. But I digress.

And those of you who dig stuff like this are highly encouraged to check out the catalog of long time Massachusetts blower Paul Flaherty, who's intensity on the horn is only matched by his flowing white beard. It's a grand one.

I really like Flaherty - and I’ve seen him live twice from less than 10 feet away. That being said the only saxophonist I’ve seen live that rivals Peter’s intensity and force live is Mats Gustafsson. One time many years ago seeing Peter with William Parker & Milford Graves, I thought my head was going to explode.

Never seen Mats live, although based on the recordings of his that I own I can imagine.

Pictures of his record collection is what made my head explode.

Last time (first time in a while) was March 2019 with Fire! Trio. Top 10 show ever for me. Incredible mind melting intensity. Berthling & Werlin were awesome as well. 65 minutes of wonder. We stood about 8 feet from Mats.

I've bought some records from him and also his Discaholic! book, and had a few minor email conversations with him, and he struck me as a real nice guy.

Love his playing on this one. And Schoof is a terrific accomplice to the madness.

The Fat is Gone Brotzmann, Gustafsson, Nilsson-Love wonderful set with the two great sax players going to town

Sprawl Brotzmann, Parker, some more guys (I forget) playing guitars and the like....really fantastic; kind of rock-oriented at times; every time I thought I would get sick of it, they changed it up.

Only the second visit to Ray's Jazz since the lockdown and I picked up a few CDs including this one.

I saw this trio perform this at Cafe Oto...well, it seemed an age ago but it was only March 2020 as part of a three day residency celebrating Beresford's 70th birthday.

Whoo, this is out there. All field recordings edited together. After awhile I started to adapt and settle in, and it became kind of soothing/relaxing in a way. Really strange, pretty interesting stuff if I'm in the mood. I've just started exploring this label and still have a ways to go.
