    Hi;

    The other day I was checking out my old vintage Sonic speakers. These are not the Sonic company that is in business today, but a company which made budget speakers from about the 1970’s to the 80’s. I have a 3 way 4 driver setup, with 2 tweeters and a 10” woofer.

    They are so old I can’t find any ID on them, just the name Sonic printed on the front firing port. My oldest grandson gave them to me. Someone gave them to him and he didn’t have room.

    So, the sound is nice and warm. They’re not great my any means, but the I like them. A long time ago I had similar looking Sonic 2 ways. So there’s probably nostalgia involved. I have them hooked up to my second system.

    Any rate I noticed one of the midrange drivers was cracked. I’d like to replace both midrange drivers. They are a simple design: made of a brown colored paper with a small round dust cover dome. I measured them a 4”. I believe they are 8 ohm speakers.

    However they have become very difficult to find. I keep getting directed to 2 way car speakers, full range 4 ohm speakers etc. I don’t think I’ll find the exact drivers, but something close will have to do.

    In fact, I’ll need a place to purchase other replacements. I’m pretty sure the others will give out in the near future.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    That's what I was thinking. Then you could just part them out.

    Looks like maybe they were an off brand Pioneer speaker.

    Thanks to all. I have a saved a number of replacements that seem to fit the originals. I’ll give several of the companies a call after I pull out the bad speaker.
