I would jump at the Ornette titles. Same with any of the more avant-garde BN albums. I mean Cecil Taylor's Conquistador and Unit Structures would be dreams come true!

I arrived late to the Tone Poet party so really hoping that both of the Hutcherson's get a repress at some point - I've been able to find most of the older issues that I want for reasonable prices here in the UK with a bit of patience, but these too are very elusive. Also Cornbread, The Phantom and My Point Of View are tough to find here for reasonable prices right now. Fingers crossed!

As time goes by more and more TP’s hit the secondhand market here in the Netherlands but yeah, I know some items are very elusive unfortunately. Me for instance, missed Donald Byrd’s Byrd in flight which now cracks the 100€ bar easily

I already have the Nov. BNC titles I want, but glad you pointed those out. I have so much Art Blakey already (like many) but what was I thinking, just preordered it and looking forward to it's arrival.

It's from 20 years ago, at least ten years I think. There was a followup, that I just found. It's also worth reading. Musician Rant #2: Pat Metheny on Kenny G

plus Don Cherry Complete Communion. These three are my holy grail for the Tone Poet treatment. :)

Just picked up the new reissue of "All Seeing Eye" by Wayne Shorter. Super music and sound for those interested.

Looks like for the Classic Series, Herbie Nichols Vol 1 and 2 title are short enough (was originally two 10" albums) to combine into a single LP.
The blurb says the gatefold packaging has the two covers on the front and back with the liner notes on the inside.
So almost there! A gatefold, two covers, but only one record. :)

I read the Metheny thing a long time ago. IMHO he kinda shouldn't have done it. It does not elevate him when he trashes another guy.

I forgot the part about the Louie Armstrong track though, but dear god, that is one of the worst songs ever EVER made, and combining it with Kenny G is just....! It couldn't get any worse and I'm almost perverted enough to want to hear it!

The Waiting Game is over! I just picked up a copy of this great Tina Brooks lp at the local mall after not finding it at my usual haunts. It’s a great title!

That is my experience with Ella too. They always have a great selection. I looked the store up online and I would love to go check it out in person. Good excuse for a trip to Tokyo :)

Indeed I have often thought of arranging a holiday in Japan based around record shopping and visiting jazz clubs. Combined with my love of Murakami novels I’m sure I could easily spend a good chunk of time there!

Sorry I’ve been away from here for ages and lost track - what are the next few months TP releases? Last I got was the Shorter and can’t find any forthcoming on Amazon uk.

There are 8 new releases in the Classic vinyl series upcoming in Nov and Dec. Available to pre order. See separate thread or Blue Note UK website. But maybe you are just interested in the Tone Poets ?
