What artist is the MOST unlikely to green light their back catalog anytime soon ? It CAN be individual titles or the whole catalog for the sake of this thread. In the early 2000s I would have said Neil Young hands down but now that title I believe has gone to Van Morrison.Your pick?

What? There have been Deluxe Editions released of all their albums and a massive rarities box. What more do you want from them?

Is there a time span involved here?

Meaning do the artists need to be "old-ish" to qualify - like debuted at least 25 years ago?

But wouldn't that make them unlikely to reissue the catalog anytime soon - because there's no need?

OP leaves it vague whether the thread intends to address catalogs never reissued and unlikely to see a change or if it can cover those that've been reissued but just aren't likely to get another reissue...

It has to be Van Morrison. He doesn’t se to want anyone to know he’s GOT a back catalogue.

I don’t think that’s what the OP is looking for otherwise you could just name every band that had a recent reissue.

It would be interesting to know the reason(s) these catalogs or specific catalog titles are NOT being reissued. In Neil’s case it was an unusual reason -he’s perfectionist and wanted a format technology that would do the recordings justice. In Van’s case it seems to be spite (as Van has beefs with nearly every label he’s dealt with). In most other cases it must be $$$ or legal issues -between band members themselves or bands and their labels.

I was thinking more along the lines as NEVER reissued or maybe not reissued in more than 25 years

I would’ve agreed with you a year ago, but the guy who did the Physical reissue says he wants to put out one for every album. Fingers crossed!

I also would’ve said the same thing about Madonna, but now those are on the way.

    Okay - that clarification helps!

And I'm gonna assume you mean no part of the catalog can be reissued, not just "whole catalog reissues", right?

For instance, the Stones haven't done a "whole catalog" reissue in a while, but they're putting out occasional deluxe edition sets...

100% this. I need two 90’s releases to complete the catalogue - never happening.

He was started to reissue under a new deal with “It’s too Late…” but then stopped do he could release about 17 albums ovef the last four years.

I cannot see any Van Halen stuff getting reissued in the near future. Especially the Hagar era. I would think that Wolfgang has the most say when it comes to that and he, rightfully, has his own creative career to deal with at this time.
