How big can Smock PA really be? Go out and track those babies down if they don't show up soon we're all tired of waiting!

Those Harbeths are pretty heavy, I wouldn’t worry about a porch pirate walking off with them.

    This is getting ridiculous
It's like they are taunting me now

I swear he's driving back and forth in front of my house honking the horn and waving!

OK, I don't get upset often, seldom, I'm not the guy who returns the wrong food order, etc.

BUT, they left my stuff in the driveway and did not even ring the doorbell!
Tweaked a bit, I guess no harm, no foul, but come on.

Can't be too upset though :pineapple:

    here, unboxed
    Mint

I'm trying to figure out how to set them to listen. The KEF stands are strong, but the top plate is only 7x9, so not stable, at least to suit me. On carpet with spikes.

Might be fine temporarily but Turkey Day with rug rats might be risky, I'd put them on the floor.

Might just set them on towels on the mantle with a cant. I'm 'eager' to put it mildly to listen to them.

A temporary solution might be a 12x13 board bolted to the stands.

    1st World Problems ;)

Ahhh, OK. I missed the part where you went with Harbeths instead of the ugly-ass Wilsons (which was going to be my argument to talk you out of them, but I didn’t want to be rude when it appeared you may have pulled a trigger already… ;) ).

Blu tac board to top plate would be plenty secure, and easily removed.

    Congrats on safe arrival.

Your sub is pretty close to stand height?

The only upsides to getting the Yvettes would have been not needing stands and they would intimidate the rug rats.
Big upside to going with Harbeth is reasonable money well spent.

    sub ~16"

Tipping point is too low, stand base is narrow.
I'm going to work on it but in my haste to use them:
    6' apart
    Center to wall 4'
    Face to back wall 3'
    Listening position 12"
Angled to put elevation axis at 36"
Slight toe, 2' to either side of listening position

Set on cork pads, canted with stiff sorbothane
    Over hang ~0.5"
    Shimmed and solid
Pavers ~40 lb each vs 35 for the speaker

now, to hook them up and play :goodie:

Well, either intimidate, or invite, since they might be mistaken for fun robots to play with…

So are those 40's or SLH5's? Looking good but invest in some Sound Anchor stands for those.

I am ecstatic with my choice.
Better in every way than the KEF, as they should be. And the KEF are no slouches.

Without sounding hyperbolic I was not expecting a paradigm shift. And by far, I am no trained ear.
-The sound was more 'realistic' in tone
    -More 'planer', less point source
    Reverb/harmonics, much finer resolution/detail
    Decay, faster, cleaner
Bass is great, turned sub xover down a good bit, gain not as much.

Obviously more listening and tweaking is required, but 0 regrets. Can't fault them.

Fantastic you made an excellent choice I love Harbeths. Smock is just over 3 hours away according to my phone and we're going to Philly for Thanksgiving anyway I hope I don't have to go there and look at the back to find out what model they are. :p

Need to ponder the stand decision.
I may pour 2 8" tall x 12" diameter sonotubes of LW concrete, bolt a 12x12 butcher block on and call it a day, lol
    Set them where they are.

They sound really good now, so no rush.
