As actor or director or both - 1965 to the present.

I'm skipping The Witches because I haven't seen it, but here's my list:

And there are many others I really enjoy - the other two Leone Westerns, Honytonk Man, Bronco Billy, Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, Magnum Force, The Beguiled, Kelly's Heroes, Flags of our Fathers and the even better Letter from Iwo Jima, Escape from Alcatraz, and Changeling

 

Saw The Eiger Sanction the other week - couldn’t believe how embarrassingly bad it was! Clint as an Art professor/mountain climber/hitman. Reminds you how bad the 70’s could be.

Luckily they had Escape from Alcatraz on this week...gripping and excellent

 

Take your pick from Space Cowboys onwards. Cry Macho is major bollocks.

 

Watched 'Cry Macho' last week. Didn't like it at all.
And Clint's getting old.

 

Which is the more iconic line:

"Make my day" or " Get off my lawn"

 

I used to think that was really bad, but it's far surpassed by some of the other stuff that's been released since and, of course, bettered by some of it too

 

I mostly agree with that...but I liked both Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can!

 

There are possibly others I could have picked. I have to admit to not being up to speed on those he's only directed over the last few years - especially most of those since 2008

I only watch Clint's westerns

 

I'm not particularly a Clint Eastwood fan, but this seems related. There is a cd called Music for the Movies of Clint Eastwood. I found it in the used bin a few days ago and it is an excellent compilation, on shuffle, for an easy listening hour.

I have the DVD of Paint Your Wagon, though it was Wandering Star that lured me in

I watched a few of those Leone movies a few months ago, and found them rather tedious.

 

First one I thought of. Dated and embarrassing on more ways than you can count.

CE’s character is called ‘Jonathan Hemlock’. Says it all.

 

Find it hard to beat Pink Cadillac. Though I enjoyed it, there were some definite WTF/cringe moments. Clint being "funny" and making voices... Doesn't work! Lol.

 

In addition to those listed above I think Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino are good films. And I like White Hunter Black Heart also, but it's been many years since I saw it.

As for his weakest? What was the one that had him and Lee Marvin singing?

 

Yep. That could easily be added to my list. Not a fan of The Gauntlet either.

I never watched the one with monkee.

He went through a stretch where his gf or wife was a lot of films.

 

"Bird" is easily his best movie as a director.

 

Cry Macho was terrible. Firefox was bad. True Crime was a good book Clint ruined. Blood Work was another good book he screwed up.
I'm a Clint Eastwood fan so I like most of his movies.

 

Paint Your Wagon. Good contender for the bottom ten list.

 

High Plains Drifter: I used to love this one back when I was younger. I watched it a couple of years back for the first time in 30 years and it has not aged well, despite some memorable sequences.

I know some of these are highly regarded, but they are all ones that either bore me or make me cringe.

 

It is an odd film. Not really an Eastwood vehicle, as he wasn’t a major star at that point and only appears in one segment.

I own the Arrow Academy BD release because I’m a fan of Pier Paolo Pasolini. If you like European arthouse cinema, that’s a better reason to purchase the film — although it’s still not great, TBH. If anyone goes into this expecting a typically macho Clint Eastwood performance, they’re going to come away confused and disappointed.

 

His best films were the comedies with the guy in the monkey outfit.

 

Hereafter was bad. J Edgar too.

I can’t bring myself to watch 3:17 to Paris, just sounds awful.

Magnum Force is my favourite film of all time. I know it’s not the best film ever made, but it’s my favourite.
