I just got hit with that one, too, same circumstances (shipped to US address). Death by 1000 cuts. If they are going to charge it they should have to give us a way to block foreign registered bidders.

  2. With managed payments the eBay fees have gotten too high, I am going to raise prices and just accept selling less and look for other options. Total eBay fees are often 20% selling a CD now and I still have to pay for shipping, packaging and assume risk of loss to a bad buyer or USPS.

    I'm confused...

I just sold something on eBay for the first time in a few months; it said the buyer paid, so I shipped the item off.

The problem is that I cannot figure out how the buyer paid, or where the money is.

There's no money waiting to be claimed in my PayPal account, the money hasn't been deposited into my checking account, and it hasn't been credited to my credit card. Weird. There's a brief "How to Get Paid" tutorial on eBay, but that appears to be not much more than a sales pitch, as it talks about was how easy it is to receive $$ through eBay sales. I've been selling on & off through eBay since 1998, and I have never been stumped like this as to where my payment has gone.

    Can someone help?

    Thanks in advance!

I think you were put into the managed payment system. It takes a day or two for Ebay to send you the money. I don't think I can tell how the buyer paid either. Don't care really. You should get an email from them telling you that they are depositing money in your account, less their cut. That takes a day or so. So, you have to wait 3-4 days to get your money. They don't use Paypal anymore for sellers.

Assuming you specified to be paid every day of the week (instead of once a week on a particular day), it takes like 2 days at the most for the payment to officially be in your bank account. You should be all set in 48 hours or less.

    Thanks Bobs & Combo--

I did finally see on the left-side column a "payments" link, where it tells me I will receive the $$ in my bank account tomorrow.

I had to cancel a sale yesterday and for some dumb reason eBay pilfered .30 cents out of my checking account. Totally absurd.

I bit the bullet and signed up for managed payments at the weekend. Five items listed and we'll see how it goes.
I was disappointed with the marketplace here as I listed what I thought were desirable items at reasonable prices, but they didn't shift at all. I think it's because I'm in the UK and no one trusts international shipping at the moment. Anyway, we'll see how ebay manages this batch.

I don't know @MrCJF, I clicked on a desirable wanted CD of mine at 10.50GBP, a reasonable price, and when I checked the eBay global rip-off shipping it was 21GBP.

The GSP rates that they offer from the UK to Canada are very high. I got the same quote for one CD priced at the same level.

    Just a couple of concerns.

One of my listings had a highest bidder from overseas, and when I clicked on it the cost of expedited shipping was added next to the purchase price. Am I going to get charged commission on the Ebay shipping costs? I only quoted for posting in the UK. I've never been charged for their overseas shipping program in the past.

Second - the third party auctions thread in this forum seems to have really slowed down. I posted on Sunday, and when I went back to bump it on Monday, it was still the top thread in the forum, so I didn't bother. I think there have only been two other active threads this week. Last year I was slipping to at least page 3 between the daily bumps.

You may have to contact Ebay to be sure, but yes, I believe you will get charged commission on your shipping costs. One reason why I usually add a little weight to my shipping specs. That way I won't lose money on shipping.

Five items sold last night, four paid for, three of those payments being transferred to my account.

I have not been charged a fee on overseas shipping which is good, because ebay are charging the guy fees almost equal the purchase price.

Total fees for the three items I've been paid for works out at 13.3%, and I can live with that.
