Can't believe no one has mentioned 'Barney' from New Order. Never been able to really enjoy their music because of his painful whining - and those dumbf*ck lyrics.
Most screamers. Jimmy Barnes and Brian Johnson: simultaneously bringing fame and shame to Oz music.

If he meant Tedeschi, 100% agree.

I can't stand her voice (even her presence) so I can't enjoy at all TTB... so sad since DTB is amazing

Of course not. It was a male singer. I don't know his name.

I enjoy the Sugarcubes, except for when Einar is on the mic. No thanks.

Can't get next to Craig Finn from the Hold Steady's voice either, which is unfortunate as I want to like them but... can't.

I love Robert Wyatt but never play him for friends & family because his voice is an “acquired taste”.

On the other end of the spectrum there are some classic rockers with “good” voices that I can’t enjoy. The Guess Who and John Kay are both examples. Technically strong, but just too mannered.

Rush, but after a bit I got used to it...such a great band!

How did you get past Getty's vocals? For me, it was focusing on the quality of the band's playing, especially Peart's drumming.

I much prefer Lee's vocals to Thurston's, while Kim I find very much hit-and-miss.

    I just can't stand it.

First one that came to mind is REO Speedwagon.

But then, I never really wanted to like them, to be perfectly honest.

Rush, definitely. I’ve tried plenty of times. It’s always the same. All good until that guy starts singing.

The music on Bright Green Field is really interesting, but Ollie Judge’s mannered vocals are an acquired taste. To me, it sounds like he’s purposely trying to sabotage the music. I wish they’d release an instrumental version of the album.

May I direct you to the entire Sarah Records discography? It sounds right up your alley.

When Ian Curtis died the rest of Joy Division all tried out vocals for a few gigs, to see if any of them were up to the task. Barney was perhaps the best of the bunch. Hooky can be heard singing 'Dreams Never End', and by his own account Steven Morris was a terrible vocalist. But they never considered bringing in a singer from outside.

A fragile voice can be a strength. I love New Order on record but live Barney's singing was pretty rough.
