Euclid Records is my go to around here. Best staff, decent prices and a great selection of used and new stuff. Louisiana Music Factory is decent if you're around the french quarter. Avoid Peaches at all costs. Very very overpriced tourist trap. Domino Sound is worth checking out if you're looking for local music. Sisters In Christ has a specific selection of punk/goth/metal/etc but is worth a visit as well
Unfortunately they closed their doors 4 or 5 years ago, a few years before I moved here! Still hear great things from people I talk to. I heard the family is trying to open a new store, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while.
When I visited, I went to Euclid, Peaches (do not recommend), Man Ray, Louisiana Music Factory, Sisters in Christ, Domino Sound Record Shack, and The White Roach.
I really like Euclid and visit every time in town. I've actually found a few good things at Peaches before but agree that it's often VERY overpriced. I've actually had some nice finds at Capital City up in Baton Rouge and also occasionally at "The Exchange." Nice guy working at The Exchange, who had a lot of knowledge of the 80s funk scene.
I live in NOLA Euclid. - Lefty is great LA Music Factory for local artists I know the woman at Peaches Overpriced but RSD is great if you get there - they open 1 hour early I go because Nirvana, a nice Indian Restaurant with outdoor dining is 2 doors down Jim Russell was a complete nightmare Only time I ever raised my voice in front of my son in public Some smaller shops Domino (cash only), The White Roach
Sorry to hear that. What was the issue, if you don't mind me asking? I used to stop through NO quite often for work from the mid-90s through the mid-00s. The place was always disorganized, but a little bit of digging more often than not proved worthwhile. As I recall, the guy's wife usually worked the register and she seemed to undervalue the 78s I'd find with no prices on them. I have a copy of Professor Longhair's Hadacol Bounce in my 78 juke that I bought from Jim Russell some 20 years ago for less than $10.

It is the last one I will ever buy from you I refuse to be ripped off and I am never coming back here” I Forcefully laid it down on the counter and walked out without it Never to return
Curious….. Would the store recommendations above be the same for a used CD collector? Which stores have the best used CD inventory? Thanks in advance!
Euclid has a decent selection of CDs at good prices. Louisiana Music Factory does as well but mostly leans towards local music. 2nd and Charles, a used book/DVD/music store on the other side of lake Pontchartrain tends to have a interesting selection of CDs. It's a lot like half price books in other parts of the country
It seems that nothing at Peaches is less than $49.95. A VG copy of a common Ratt record? $49.95. Yup.
. Last two visits to Peaches also had stuff just too expensive in the used area. Could just order on Discogs and have in a week an half or less. And I've had some noisy ones there where they were cleaned but not well. I've lately enjoyed Euclid more, but also the two best record stores in Baton Rouge are really really worth visiting.
Capitol City Records - more traditionally laid out and sometimes with cool finds. Really nice proprietor, too. The Exchange - quite messy and difficult but with a GREAT guy running the store and have had some superb finds for Paisley Park stuff and some other R&B and with surprisingly good condition. Hours are weird at that store, but it's always been worth my time to visit.
