I'd never heard the original Shadow Man, so I'm glad they released it. Though the format ("streaming exclusive") is just the most recent in a long line of head-scratching decisions from this label...
I wonder whether any toy material will be played at the cutting room gigs this weekend…? The band will feature Mark Plati and GAD. Anyone going…?
I hope the ‘streaming exclusive’ nature of the early version of “Shadow Man” is just temporary, like how all those 1968/69 demos were exclusive to those vinyl boxes before Conversation Piece was announced. Makes sense they put this out to start diverting the attention to the Hunky Dory period.
Recorded during the Toy sessions, right? Was unsure if it should be included or not. It was specifically recorded for the Who tribute.
Yes. You may as well add Afraid from Heathen, as it's an alternative mix of the Toy recording. And if Can't Help Thinking About Me from 1999 Radio 1 session is worthy; why not the two Toy numbers from BBC Theatre show?
https://www.discogs.com/de/release/21637852-David-Bowie-Toy I received a mail from the store and since I was in the neighborhood I quickly popped in. They had like... 30? But keep in mind: These were released today. 23€. The price difference between the - nice looking - 10" and the CD box is shocking btw. One is 129€, the other 29€. Assuming the mastering is decent, I find the CD set more appealing.
