Ed's music is fine. I'm rooting for him to have a long career, if only to see how far he'll take the symbol/album title thing.

Just no "Ƭ̵̬̊ " album of Prince covers, please.

He's a talented guy, but his stuff just doesn't move me. He writes songs for tween girls (and they love him). Nothing wrong with that. Just not my thing.

There is and always has been a huge body of people who will buy whatever popular product is presented to them, whether it is good or bad. In the 60s that product was usually good; in the 70s rarely good, and from the 80s onwards always rubbish.

His is hugely talented and very good at what he does. I've never liked anything I've ever heard by him though.

    Best description yet!

It’s like a musical “safe space” that won’t make your tummy hurt. Have some mild salsa with low fat chips while awaiting your veggie burger, wash it down with a light beer, and luxuriate in the sweet sounds of “Perfect”.

(I have tried, really. The immense numbers speak for themselves, and I can’t help but question whether I’m missing something that millions of fans somehow see, but I just end up terminally bored (and a little tired) every single time.)

A few weeks back, some guy extolled Ed as ' the greatest artist of our times'. I did feel the need to point out that his 'Equals' album had just been knocked off the UK #1 spot after just one week by a bunch of septuagenarians who hadn't recorded new music in 40 years.
The Glastonbury set. He played a 'loop' track that built with each song and it all looked so clever. Others would say it just made the songs have the same structure at their heart. Each to their own and all that.

  14. The world doesn't care what the Forum thinks about anything. Is there a particular reason to bring this up specifically in relation to Ed Sheeran?

Spot on. Not my thing, liked one song but it got played to death on radio/TV which spoiled it, but I caught that Glastonbury set starting on TV, was really impressed at his talent and ended up watching the whole thing. Still not my cup of tea, I wouldn't listen to him purposely or buy records but I can't deny the guy's talent.

He’s rubbish, really really rubbish and along with Adele, a sorry indictment of chart music these days.

He comes across as a nice chap, though, but unfortunately, a songwriter without an original thought.

The worst kind of Romantic Pop Pap. That's why he's so popular. He bridges generations. He seems a nice genuine young guy with an interesting backstory. Don't know how fabricated though.

I watched 30 minutes of his Glastonbury set to see what he was all about. Turns out, there was nothing there.
