Only because you said Canturbury-SOUNDING, I will put forth "Not Alone" by The Muffins, from their posthumous album (before their reunion period) Open City. Great band from Gaithersburg, Maryland. I wish I could find a YouTube clip.

Yes, I wrote so that I would leave the room for Canterbury-like bands from all over the world, so not only for bands from the original movement of whimsy, psychedelic and jazzy progressive music from England, which was decades later named after the city of Canterbury :)

    Memories by Hugh Hopper.

So many great versions of this song: the Wilde Flowers original, the early Soft Machine demo, Daevid Allen's Bananamoon LP cut, Robert Wyatt's B-side. All timeless. This song has proven itself indestructible, it still resonates after half a century. Here's a beautiful live version from Wyatt's Drury Lane concert in 1974:

I bought a nm first UK here on the forum a while back of Grey and Pink and it absolutely smokes my cd.
Those jangly guitars really sparkle on the lp. My JBL's never sounded so good.

So many to choose from. Probably Winter Wine by Caravan:

I tried to highlight my favorite part, it's just great from start to finish.

And I can't resists posting my other all-time favorite Canturbury song:
Soft Machine - Moon In June from The Peel Sessions" (1969-1971) --- not the 1968 solo demo recording, and not the 1970 "Third" recording, but the full band recording from 1969 at the BBC.

For Canterbury-sounding stuff, I'll go with the German group Brainstorm from 1973 and Dutch group Supersister from 1970.

Well, I could very much go for your choice: it’s a wonderful track. But as my nom-de-plume might indicate, mine is the perfect ‘Fitter Stoke Has A Bath’ (single version) by Hatfield and the North. It’ll be played at my funeral!

Another great choice. Pye Hastings’ muse at its very best.
