Yes have had some absolutely classic tracks to close their albums. What are your favourites? You can pick three. Let us know your choices and thoughts as well.

May have made some errors on the latter day albums that I don't own, 90s onwards as only have Talk, Magnification and Fly From Here (enjoy all of these).

Looking forward to seeing the results!

Voted for the last really great Yessong from the last Yes' masterpiece album which is criminally underrated.
An amazing video created by a fan, using Roger Dean's illustrations..

Yes On the Silent Wings of Freedom (from Tormato, 1978)

My three favourites out of these are:
    Heart of the Sunrise
    Siberian Khatru
    Awaken
...but a lot of these songs are great.

What makes a good album closer? Awaken does. Also To Be Over closes the frantic Relayer on a quieter, more calming note. Of the later albums, Endless Dream is a good closer for Talk.

Awaken may well be their masterpiece and I think it's one of the best album closers of all time.

Absolutely agree. I can't pick it over Awaken or Heart of the Sunrise, but this is one overlooked track amongst Yes fans!

In the Presence Of is a latter day minor classic. Since then they don't seem to have gone for 'big' album closers although admittedly I haven't really heard the last two.

The ones from the 69-80 original run are all really strong.

Awaken might just be my overall favourite Yes track, I also went with Time And A Word, which I've always had a soft spot for, possibly because that album was my introduction to Yes, and Heart Of The Sunrise the dynamics of which, even after all these years, I still find thrilling to listen to. There is much to enjoy in their later recordings, but, for my money, they never quite reached the heights of that early run - or maybe I'm just trying to re-capture my youth when I listen:rolleyes:

Wondering why Perpetual Change isn't getting more love. Tossup between that and Siberian Khatru as my favorite.

Tough call, Yes has a lot of classic closing cuts, but I went with "Siberian Khatru" as my main choice. The choice sort of surprised me, but that's the track that does the best job of holding my attention all the way through.

My other two votes went to "Awaken" and "...Silent Wings...," both of which have parts that I really love, but also some filler where the song slows down without adding much to the overall presentation. A number of their songs could withstand being boiled down into "single versions" like Wilson did with Topographic Oceans.

Runners-up: "Perpetual Change," "To Be Over," "Tempus Fugit," "That, That Is" and "Into the Storm."
