I'm pretty sure this was taken in Berry Gordy's office at Hitsville USA. (He had two Empire 208s in there.)
At FRANK SINATRA’S HOUSE in Palm Springs. This vintage VALENTINO stereo system was purchased & installed in 1947. And look where it’s from? Sunset Plaza on Sunset Strip. It featured state of the art recording equipment. Story goes Frank could record vinyl and transmit it back to Hollywood https://twitter.com/alisonmartino/status/1490415468263329792
This is a cool thread! Here is the lovely Meg Baird (ex-member of Espers, current member of Heron Oblivion and now solo folk artist in her own right)...
Eddie Vedder Using a piano/organ bench for LPs. I never even thought about that. PERFECT!! LPs on top, LPs on the bottom. AND... I have a M- Yamaha piano bench in my closet! Well, it's living room bound now for LPs!! So cool. Thanks for the idea Eddie!! It's my 'new' Eddie LP rack!!
Composer Eduard Artemyev speaking on his soundtrack work for Andrei Tarkovsky (Solaris, Mirror, Stalker)...
In Saint-Tropez, during his family vacation, Herbert von Karajan listens to a test of his next records, "Tchaikovsky's symphonies", which is scheduled for release three months later. 1967
Louie's tube amps, speakers, tape decks and turntable would not look out of place in a modern system. The guy had great taste in Hi-fi!
There's another thread for studio shots: Studio Recording Techniques Through the Years - Photos Please! I just added one that I rejected as off-topic to this thread.
I see a poster of the Ruts. I think its Henry's favourite punk album. He even bought the original painting of the album cover. I wonder if anyone in this thread or even this forum know this wonderful band
Love The Ruts, henry introduced me to them. FWIW, Henry no longer lives at the house in the stereo pictures.
Absolutely fabulous that he shared with you Jeff. I dont have much of his music but from what I have seen on Youtube, I gather that he is a really great guy!
I stayed at that house a few years ago with my girlfriend and friends. Unfortunately none of that cool audio gear is working. It sure was fun to look at, though. Instead, they have a bunch of real crappy multi room stuff in a closet. The piano shaped pool is not too shabby.
what a great thread. what's interesting to me is what the guys with large music collections listen to ... guys like Zach Cowie, etc. that louis armstrong pic is just amazing.
