I go with csn and/or y. they were the first group that had dudes from from very big name bands-the byrds, the hollies, and the buffalo springfield.

 

Travelling Wilburys...hey! they had a Beatle!

Jimmy Page, Chris Squire, and Alan White.

1 part Led Zeppelin and 2 parts Yes.
While they never released an album, they did record a demo consisting of four songs.

 

Had great hopes for them, but their albums were just missing something. All 3 were favorites before they formed their Super Group.

 

Here's the supergroup that no one remembers, The Last Hard Men.

Jimmy Chamberlin - The Smashing Pumpkins
Jimmy Flemion - The Frogs

 

It’s gotta be the Traveling Wilburys.

 

I can't but think that The Wilbury’s would have been infinitely better without Jeff Lynne & his horrid sugar coated sound & production

These are my three as well.

 

The Flatlanders are criminally underrated. These boys write great tunes and their singing is great.
