In! This is one of those times that being childless and single really pays dividends Id been pretty lax on GD vinyl the last few years but recently upgraded my analog rig so I picked up some of the newer vinyl releases. They really do sound spectacular.
I bought the $$$ Phish Clifford Ball vinyl box, so it’s not totally out of pocket for me to consider, but for me this sets a pass. I will buy the cd set though.
As I’ve said elsewhere, vinyl isn’t my favorite format for live Dead, but yeah, I pulled the trigger. I’m gonna be giving my turntable a workout come July.
yeah looked interesting until I saw the price. No, thanks. I know vinyl fetches good money but this seems a little ridiculous. And 24 LPs, need a real estate agent to lease the shelf space. jb
It’s a lot of money for sure. Price wise though it seems perfectly in line with current prices. Last years Lee Morgan Lighthouse Box was 12LPs and listed for over $300, may have been $350 actually.
I’m really trying to justify it. I had it in my cart almost pulled the trigger and saw the over $600 price tag then thought about the beating my wife would give me. i’m probably still going to do it I just need to psych myself up for the beating that will ensue.
I would have loved for the price on this to be lower, but it’s $350 less than AP is charging for their 24-LP Bill Evans box.
Can't recall, but I think the Complete Europe '72 Recordings CD box which had every show wasn't too much more than $600 when it came out over ten years ago.
I don't think I can do it. I just bought a single E72 CD show for about $50 and did a whole matrix to discover I'm only missing 3 Dark Stars from the Tour. I was thinking to myself "this is it, enough is enough for this tour, after the RSD vinyl of course". And the Dark Star from that show is already on Steppin' Out, so the double-dipping has already begun. I already have one show on this 4 show box set on CD. I always buy Dead Vinyl but man... 44 sides, at least 30% of that will be ignored... I don't think I can do it.
I asked for it, so I purchased it. The 3 LP rainbow version. Wait for Grateful Dead Europe '72 AAA 50th? Along with the slip mat.
I'm in for the Lyceum vinyl box and the plangent colored vinyl. I have have the steamer trunk and I don't know how many copies of E'72 on vinyl but resistance is futile. We have Wembley coming for RSD as well!, not to mention DaP 1 vinyl!!
