My first impression was that it was a hard rocking version, perhaps the hardest rocking I have heard. It doesn’t have the mellow feel of the 1973 versions. But that makes it interesting…
On the Deadcast they mention that a lot of the traveling party got sweaters in Denmark. If I remember correctly Pigpen even mailed one back to his girlfriend.
I don't know but when Jerry was asked in 1986 if they would bring it back he didn't even remember having played it. Somewhere in this interview
I think Vince Welnick convinced them to bring it back in the 90's. He also wanted to do "The Golden Road" but Garcia refused.
And tonight there was somebody on the Sixers bench in a yellow/green tie-dye that looked like it said Grateful Dead but I never quite got a good look.
I'm loving the Road Trips 2.2 bonus disc this evening, it's a wonderful slice of early 1968 Dead, perfect when you have that primal itch. That opening Viola Lee Blues, wow. But the whole disc is really great stuff!
Are ya daft, Yank? While yer busy staring out at the little dude in the street, check the heat right under ye nose, my son....
Has @SJR reviewed 5/12/81? Really fun show with great energy and rockin jams throughout. Weir gives a dedication to Bob Marley after a thunderous Estimated Prophet segues into He’s Gone, and then speaks about him before the Don’t Ease Me In encore - “Marley was a powerful poet and a gentle revolutionary, and he’ll last a long, long time”
Well...I spent two whole hours last night patching the last 30 seconds of Big Boss Man, the end of PITB, the entirety of Casey Jones, and the start of Truckin' from the remastered 4/7/1972 SHN AUD into the 2011 SBD (The opening of Black Throated Wind is missing from the AUD, and faded in on the SBD), all pitch, speed, and time corrected. Is there a Deadheads Anonymous?
