Spinning now, CD 1 from the just-arrived 20xCD John Williams Conductor box: The box has a lot of his (and other's) film music, along with a few of his more classical pieces and some popular and light classical pieces typical of the orchestra (who are on about a dozen of the discs).
Always love a good album of Rossini overtures, just so much fun to listen to. I think the Abbado LSO and Reiner CSO performances are still my favourites though. Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia Rossini: L'Italiana in Algeri Rossini: Guillaume Tell Rossini: La gazza ladra Rossini: Semiramide Rossini: La scala di seta Suppé: Leichte Kavallerie Suppé: Dichter und Bauer Leonard Bernstein New York Philharmonic 1963
First listen to "En Attendant - L'Art de la citation dans l'Italie des Visconti, 1380-1410" performed by Mala Punica on Outhere.
Just received this month's newsletter, choice from three Brahms discs: I'll give some thought to a difficult decision between the Hungarian Dances (arranged for orchestra and conducted by Andrew Mogrelia) and the Choral Music; I have multiple versions of the sonatas, not so the others.
My choice was for Idil Birit Piano Sonates, already have some Hungarische Dances and choral music is normally not my cup of coffee.
Listening to CD 41 from "Deutsche Harmonia Mundi 50 CD Collection. Disc 1 from "Schutz - Symphoniae Sacrae III (1650)" performed by Musica Fiata and Kammerchor Stuttgart led by Frieder Bernius.
CD Brahms: Concerto No. 1 In D Minor For Piano And Orchestra, Op. 15 Leon Fleisher, Piano George Szell, The Cleveland Orchestra
I noticed that too. For example, Hough's Chopin Nocturnes got mixed reviews; some were very positive (Jed Distler), others not so much. To be honest I found his Chopin a tad disappointing, to my ears it was too laid-back. Haven't heard his Schumann.
Now listening to Free Downland via Naxos Newsletter in Flac. Johannes Brahms - Piano Sonatas no. 1 & 2 . Idil Biret - Piano.

I also have this. Reminds me - I love this label more than Naxos; I haven't found anything on hyperion that has sound-quality any less than great.
Not familiar with the Hebridean Symphony but have always been a fan of the Mendelssohn Hebrides Overture ...
A recent Qobuz download purchase (24/96, $4.50 on sale!) of Schubert Ländler, Minuets and Trios, performed delightfully by Daniel Lebhardt. These are lightweight pieces compared to, say, the Sonatas, but are very entertaining and enjoyable nonetheless. Recommended!
I love it. Great music and beautiful vocals. Could listen to this all day. If you're into female vocals this has two of the best in early music.
Now playing: Heitor Villa-Lobos - Choros (Introduction; bis; Choros 1-7) - São Paulo SO, John Neschling - recorded 1995-2008 From this set:
