Spinning an interesting LP this evening which features mostly Sonny Rollins music, but also includes a few Teddy Edwards Quartet titles on Side 2. Good stuff! Sonny Rollins / Teddy Edwards – At Music Inn / At Falcon's Lair (Quality Records Mono 1960) original Canadian pressing.
I do not know how well known Matthew Halsall may or may not be known to the more knowledgeable of our Jazz brethren here. But for me he has in a short period of time become one of my very favorite players. I highly recommend his work... sitting down with this for the first time. Thought I got lucky on a deal for a “deep groove” early pressing, but ended up paying over market for slightly later pressing, c'est la vie haha
Listened to Keith Jarrett Trio's Tribute disc 2. This one reaches stunning peaks mostly on All The Things You Are and on the intimate ballads Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and Ballad Of The Sad Young Men. The last tracks sees the trio struggling with an amazing percussive course composed by Jarrett. Telepathic interplay among the three musicians in top form. Great purchase! I believe that sooner or later I will pick up their work of original compositions entitled Always Let Me Go.

Happy to get hold of a copy of this release. Now adding Bud's 1962 Copenhagen disc to the wanted list!
For some reason I've had Ornette Coleman's Body Meta on my mind. Haven't had a chance to pull it out and put it on the turntable yet. With In All Languages (and I guess Dancing in Your Head though that's barely an album), it's always been my favorite Prime Time record, the band's first. It would be wonderful to see it get a comprehensive reissue -- I think "Dancing in Your Head" was cut at the same session (not obviously the Moroccan field recording part of that album) -- for contemporary listeners. Like the other Coleman Artists House album, Soapsuds, Soapsuds, it was only briefly out on CD and then from a not particularly great vinyl rip. I wonder if the master tapes for those albums exist anywhere anymore at all. Well, out and about today, but maybe I'll get a change to put it on tonight. Meanwhile, someone posted the whole thing to YouTube, so I'm at least enjoying that over morning coffee at the kitchen table before heading out for the day!
in Copenhagen - Zoot Sims (Storyville) CD-R Recorded live at "Jazzhouse Slukefter", Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, August 24, 1978. Bass – Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen / Drums – Ed Thigpen Piano – Kenny Drew / Soprano & Tenor Saxophone – Zoot Sims A great quartet & I'm always partial to some Zoot! The only downside is this title is now in the supply chain on secretly issued CD-R format. T80-UG-5 is stamped on the disc run off.
Starting the day off with some Art Blakey. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers – Buhaina (Prestige 1973)
For those who wants to buy the Cds in Canada AMZ have them in stock at the moment of this writing for $21.70 CDN + Tx... Pretty stiff price for a 37 minutes CD. I might go the FLAC way. Edit: Currently streaming the full Amaryllis album on BCamp, it is amazing.
Carmen McRae with Dave Brubeck recorded live at Basin Street East, Sony Blu-Spec CD2 It's been too long since I spun either Carmen or Dave and I'm fixing that.
