Looking for recommendations and experiences with any easily obtainable pressings, preferably available within the UK. Not looking for the last word in AAA, simply wish to listen casually to a tolerable and balanced, open sounding pressing. If it's a still available new, even better (preferable, in fact).

    As always, value your words.

  3. I’m fond of the US 1980 (red label) pressing, not sure how easy it is to find in the UK but it’s lower priced than issues that came before it assuming similar condition.

Looks like it was part of the 50th anniversary releases. Available on Amazon.

Also the fancy 45rpm version at Acoustic Sounds. Acoustic Sounds

Thanks for all recommendations so far. Acoustic Sounds 45 has peaked my interest. Wonder if there's a UK vendor out there.

Anyone know how I get this thread relocated to its proper place?

    Blame the scotch.

    I do.

I can tell you which copy to avoid, if that's helpful. I have a reissue from Elektra, manufactured in Germany by Warner Music GmbH. Sounds bad. Barcode 0 7559-60657-2 9, label LC 0192

I had all those AP 45rpm Doors releases when I played records and they are excellent.

Either any early pressing, DCC (if you're lucky) or Analog Productions 45rpm from 2012. Unfortunately, the latest anniversary remaster has some noticeable flaws on both stereo and mono reissues.

  15. This! Dont waste your time and money looking for anything better; you wont find it. I'm in the UK and I imported mine from Acoustic Sounds directly as no one here stocks AP titles.

Listened to Strange Days tonight on headphones and wondered if anyone could shed any light on that godawful thudding sound throughout the third verse on the title track?

The problem is the quality of the vinyl is sketchy. You may have a quiet copy but ive never been able to find one that doesn’t have issues. Too bad, the SQ is pretty good.

Didn't get what was godawful on that. I hear that the echo is emphasized on the last verse before the end of the song, so there is some "clashing" so to say on the vocals, but other than that it's all okay to me. I'd point out though, that after 1999 remasters, Strange Days as an album suffers from right channel (or left, can't recall atm) "fluctuation" from like the second half of the album.
