Maybe my story will help you. I initially passed on the newer clear MOV version of Slowdive - Pygmalion. Meh, no big deal. Figured I would never play it.

Then i recently got it from the library (yes, my local library had the new reissue). The jacket is really nice and the record sounded good. So of course i got it in my head that now I NEED it, but it's no longer easily available. So I go on discogs and find a copy, but it's too expensive, $48 + shipping. Pass.

A week later I look again, and the same seller dropped the price to $35. OK now I have to buy it. $44 with tax and shipping Blah. Order it anyway!

Record arrives, and not really the fault of the seller, but the jacket is somewhat dinged up, and the record has a minor edge warp. Also a bit noisy in the quiet parts, at least on headphones. The library copy was better.

    Buyer's regret kicks in. Ugh.

when they fill the bin with MOV titles that are well-reviewed i just grab them. even if i'm not yet familiar with the release. this last round yielded some awesome discoveries. at $7-$8 a piece i just take the damn risk.

My problem with the Blowout Bin: I consistently find items that I only vaguely want. Because I don't have any self control, I buy them right away. And then I have a ridiculous amount of regret for buying something that I only vaguely wanted in the first place and am running out of storage space. UGH.

Same. I look at all the blowout vinyl that I still have sealed, and wonder why I bought them! But there are a few that are in regular rotation… I just have to learn to control myself.

This was me the other night. I filled the cart and, thankfully, emptied it for that very reason. “Do I REALLY want that Alanis Morrisette album?” Not really.

Yeah one thing i've noticed is that if you want a record this company sells, check all their shops, including ebay, deepdiscount, discogs, popmarket. it's all the same company and they don't always synchronize the prices. i grabbed the new Engineers reissue (which is fantastic) for cheaper on deepdiscount than ebay.

Thanks! Under $80 shipped was good enough for me to finally bite on Neil Young Archives Volume II. I am still disappointed that they didn't go the Blu-Ray high-resolution route like with Volume I, but $8 per disc (10 disc box) is reasonable.

Anchoress Art Of Losing on DeepDiscount

The Anchoress - Art of Losing vinyl for $13.25. This has long been on my list. Got it from the bin with four other items for less than the vinyl alone on Amazon. I’ll call that a score!
