It's weird and a bit worrying that you don't seem to have been informed ahead of this reprint. One would assume that after the issues with the original, they would pay extra attention to get things right. And speaking of reprint, since the original release was on EMI, the artwork will have to be changed a bit anyway to Parlophone - moving the logo on the spine really wouldn't be a big deal...
The 5.1 fixed would not need further study by me. On Benefit everything was set. I was not needed then. I knew only by my credit that the same Benefit 5.1 mix had been used from the previous set. cheers
One can hope that the TAAB versions included would be unMewtized. As this is a reprint, I am not counting on it but let’s wait and see. The mastering credits, other relevent and unfamiliar office stuff would then probably need some updates as well.
It will be just as widely available as all the other recent Tull sets have been. It’s nearly 4 months until release.Give retailers time to list what is a niche product.
As this is the first time the Wilson mix has been half-speed mastered for LP, this 50th anniversary edition of the LP cannot be a repress of the earlier Peter Mew mastered version.
That's right. For the 50th anniversary, the LP has been half-speed mastered for the first time, while the CD + DVD set is a reissue of the 40th anniv. edition.
The pictures up on Amazon for the Warner pre-order are of the EMI version, so we might have a chance!
Thanks A 2022 repress (hit me with a big stick) https://burningshed.com/store/jethrotull/jethro-tull_thick-as-a-brick-40th-anniversary_boxset
Thanks! I printed this out and inserted in the 40th box. I do this as often as I can with albums. When I pull out an album from 10 years ago, there are printouts about the album.
Well…a half-speed mastered vinyl version of the SW remix with the original fold-out newspaper is an automatic buy for me. For the CD-DVD-A, I’m in the same boat as many others. I. Have the Mewed 40th anniversary version and the un-Mewed HDTracks download, but I would buy an un-Mewed CD-DVD-A in a flash.
I’m confused, it’s this a repress of the big box from 2012 of the subsequent book style box from a few years ago? how can you differentiate the original ‘Mew mastered’ DVD versus the replacement DVD?
That image of the CDs is obviously and weirdly photoshopped. The person who did it made it look like a figure-of-eight CD that will fit in no known CD player!
So, to recap: the 2012 CD/DVD release was the Steve Wilson stereo remix that was *mastered* by Peter Mew, the 2015 single CD removed the compression added by Mew, and we have no idea if the 50th anniversary CD/DVD will be the Mew-ized TAAB or the fixed/restored Wilson mix TAAB?
Thank you, Bevis. I found the answer here: Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick 40th Anniversary Special Edition
