The Rolling Stones The 7" Singles 1963-1966 (18 x 7" singles) $216.41 Amazon UK https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09RX4GDTR/ I really want this but I've had some bad experiences with Amazon UK packaging lately. Anyone got this?
I don't own this but just wanted to concur with you that the UK packaging is disgraceful. I ordered the Thin Lizzy Rock legends box set, not cheap, and it came in a thin paper bag type envelope. No padding no protection. It arrived damaged, and customer service was not very helpful, as the price went up after I bought my copy, and the only option they gave was return, refund after we receive it (2 weeks) and re-order (if it's even in stock).
Ordered something today that was instock , 24 hours deliver, just to break the cycle of 13 outstanding back ordered items.
I want to take the opportunity to bitch about the prices on Amazon AU lately...new CD's $35 and well above for single disc new releases - RIDICULOUS!
we're gonna have to wait for the next real economic downturn to see prices back to what they were 2 years ago.
Business is now run by executives who are focussed on their short term bonuses. With CDs (and DVD, blu ray, and 4k) the masses have stopped buying. So not much money can be made by selling at prices aiming to attract a mass market. But there are some collectors who will buy no matter how high the price. The industry is now charging to reap big profits from these few purchases. I used to buy huge amounts of CDs and movies - especially at sales (Readings, JB, etc). I've not bought a single CD or movie from JB for what now must be a few years. Most of my purchases now a specials at Amazon. (Another winge is that most of what I buy isn't even available at JB - check out their King Crimson catalogue as an example.) The high prices get short term profits, but of course it also works to rapidly kill the physical disc market. This, I think, will reduce profit for the industry in the long term. As I often end my posts when discussing politics (on other forums), it is all very sad.
