CD single ordered from Townsend Music, £6+£3.50 postage. Interested to hear the reworked A Great Day.
I’ll purchase gladly and stand alongside Ukraine, I don’t need any media portrayal to understand that
Having bought the download makes this upcoming release a little anti-climactic. But I might be tempted just for the reworked GDFF, and for completeness' sake.
Before anybody else complains about the b-side, remember what "A Great Day for Freedom" was actually about. It's a song that deals directly with the aftermath of the end of the Iron Curtain and what happened in some countries of the former Eastern Bloc (while the title and first lines refer to the end of the Berlin Wall). So that ties in well, thematically.
FYI, it seems like the vinyl single is only available in the UK & Europe. Us American Pink Floyd fans have to import it.
does the cd come with an instrumental version of the song too? really not a fan of the other persons vocals on the track at all.
Well, perhaps you can appeal to Gilmour and tell him you just don't like the other vocal. I'm sure he will be happy to remix the song so the vocal that annoys you is mixed out. Artists just don't think of fans' wants these days.
CD is £6.99 + £1.75 postage from Rough Trade. Maybe the karaoke version will be a hidden track on a double grooved 7 inch.
Although The Dogs of War fits fine thematically, I don't think the upbeat tempo of the song is typical for a charity single.
i was simply asking and mentioning why i would want an instrumental version with no ill will towards the vocalist. yet, you felt the need to come here and attack me and be rude....how kind of you. how dare i not like or prefer something... it was seriously an honest and simple question. dang!
Correct. The announcement says release dates are 15 July - except for Japan (3 Aug) and US/Canada/Australia/Mexico (21 Aug). No listing on Amazon US yet but can be imported if anyone doesn't want to wait until the fall to get it
Since the whole Pink Floyd contribution to the song was constructed around the (already existing) vocal, I doubt they're going to do that. It would sort of lose the whole point why they did this track in the first place.
