"Joey" is a great Dylan tune? This sounds like something Robbie Robinson wrote on quaaludes. That could have happened. Levon could have totally sang this.

I am on record as pro-Joey. As was Garcia, who I believe was the one who prodded Dylan to play it with the Dead in ‘87, if I recall an old interview from The Golden Road correctly.

I was almost going to bring up Album Club here. But the first rule is that you don't talk about Album Club. And I can't remember the last time I discussed albums with AC anyway.

But for the folks at home, I bought a Rod Stewart "compilation" off the Forum, only it's not a compilation, it's his first two albums in a 2LP package called The Vintage Years 1969-70. On the front cover, it tells you that it's An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down, and Gasoline Alley. I know Gasoline Alley, because that's been an audiophile title, by MFSL and others, for decades, and I avoided it like the plague because when I was half the age I am now and much younger, I just assumed all Rod Stewart was lame, because I wasn't familiar with the Jeff Beck Group or the Faces. So anyway I listen to both, and they're both sonic templates for Every Picture Tells A Story, so I'm thinking Album Club should hear one of these, so I pick An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down.

Anyway, that caused a ruckus because An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down was called The Rod Stewart Album in the U.S., and I DID NOT KNOW THAT.

And to be honest, if someone had a NM audiophile pressing of The Rod Stewart Album on the [For Sale] Vinyl thread for like three dollars with shipping, I never would have bought it because that title sucks.

Thank you! I'll be here all week.

Oh yeah, I love the song, I was just being ridiculous.

Actually, I'm going to downgrade that to "really like."

    OK, "like."

So of all the 60s artists who adopted 80s production, which is pretty much all of them who made it to the 80s, I think Zappa did it the best. I like 80s Zappa as much as any Zappa.

Allmusic.com gives Them Or Us three out of five. Get a life.

I think the Forum had a few minutes outage. I was afraid I got blocked for posting "Red State."

Hey man, in my heart, all the states are Purple.

Are you being racist again? The Chinese haven't really been "Red" for years now

often, when the XXth anniversary Edition of some album that had been successful a few decades before comes out, a second / third CD with outtakes, alternative versions, sometimes some concert from that era is given "as a gift" (well ...) .

Often, however, they are pieces of relatively low value, badly recorded ...

However, with this 20th anniversary of Galexico's first work (THE BLACK LIGHT) the first CD, which made it a success, sounds very good and the music still sounds fresh today.

What a pleasure, however, to listen to the second "bonus" CD! beautiful songs, played well, some "Alternate" and above all a nice sound.

The digipack is also excellent, with the word "Galexico" in relief.

In short. It is really, really good listening.
If you don't know this beautiful album of country, rock, pop, Tex Mex, I would recommend a listen.

If you also decide to buy, take this 20th anniversary

Brand new Peter Rowan. This is really great!! He sounds great, production is so bright and the instruments are sharp. Features Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle as well. I highly recommend this to everyone here especially to fans of Jerry Garcia, Old and In The Way, Billy Strings and bluegrass.

Sometimes I feel like I've been tied to the whipping post, Frank's version.

Now listening to Blonde On Blonde by Bob D.

Well, they'll stone you when you're tryin' to be so good
They'll stone you just like they said they would
They'll stone you when you're trying to go home
Then they'll stone you when you're there all alone

But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

  13. Mostly, for today, in light of the terrible news out of DC, the song below.

    1963. You Don’t Own Me.

    We, unfortunately, are going backwards.

This is great. Malcolm Catto is the drummer for Heliocentrics, but I'd never heard the other two guys. This is from the writeup and I couldn't have said it any better:

‘60s British blues explosion colliding with a mid ‘70s Bronx block party; Haight Ashbury acid rock mashed up with Manchester’s summer of love circa ’88; or a prime slice of UK freakbeat broadcast from New York’s jazz underground

You're godd*mn right I'm not weird. Count me as "Them." Or maybe "Us," it's hard to keep track. One of those, though.
