I'm hoping for a standalone disk as there's been too much already released material in the archives to make me want to buy them.

Mad number of albums coming out. I wonder how well the physical product is selling, I am a big and long time fan but I am burned out since some years back.
That 2019 live looks like an amazing setlist so will be tempting :D

Throw Your Hatred Down from Noise and Flowers available on NYA and Apple music. It's a bit meh with POTR. Needs more pj.

I think it sounds alright, but tend to agree with you, @andyediewatt.

(I think it has flashes of the red-hot intensity that was the hallmark of this tour, which is probably why Neil choose it.)

But as with much of the music with POTR, Neil's guitar here loses its stature — simply due to too much stuff piled up on top of it. Even with POTR reining themselves in, it needs some breathing space.

    (The narrow mix doesn't help).

    That said...

My guess is most of the songs on Noise and Flowers will sound better. Throw Your Hatred Down is one of those songs with everybody thrashing away at their instruments with abandon. (The equivalent of a painter mixing together 15 colours and ending up with grey.)

When POTR play more sparsely—as they do on most of the songs in 2019—Neil sounds better. From Hank to Hendrix was a good example of that.

I actually think it's better when Neil did the break down section towards the end. The rest to me sounds like a tribute band with Neil fronting it. I've really tried with potr but they continually leave me cold and uninterested. Yes @RoyalPineapple hank to Hendrix and all the Stray gator type material is much more suited to their style. More a natural fit than just chugging away on the electrics.

I had to watch the Buffalo 1991 encore on nya just to get re-energised with Neil.

By the way if you haven't watched that do yourself a favour Neil and the Horse shred like I've never seen before. Weld is my favourite Neil album/tour/sound period. End of rant.

Like A Hurricane from Buffalo 1991 is my single favourite officially-released live performance — by anybody, ever.

Any Crazy Horse fan who doesn't take andyediewatt's advice and go and watch the pro-shot video of it right now (exclusively streaming on Neil's website) is missing out — BIG TIME.

Noise and Flowers on now. Enjoying more than anticipated. For me I've got to let the Promise of the Real distaste go and realise at this point Neil was in his mid 70s and still rocking like a MF. As much as we've all played Helpless and Mr Soul.. they are really solid versions.

Out of all the lost Neil young albums, I’ve wanted to hear this and the first mix of TTN. I liked the rendition of Powderfinger on Rust Never Sleeps but hearing it alongside Like a Hurricane or Will To Love is definitely gonna be exciting.

Apologies if this is a silly question but, for those who don't want or can't afford Archives Vol 3, what are the chances of Old Ways I and Johnny's Island getting a standalone release?

  25. Probably about the same as Dume or The Old Homestead from Volume 2.They call it box bait for a reason.
The other factor likely to stop them is the vinyl production log jam.Any stand alone release like that they would want to put out on vinyl as well because that is where they can get people to cough up the big bucks. However if Neil uses part of his vinyl production quota for this that means a Official Bootleg Series,Performance Series or Special Release Series title can’t be released at all.
Most optimistic case is that they may be but you could be waiting many years with no guarantee.
