Yes, one of the LPs in my collection I have been surprised at the price increase is the Bunnymen's "Siberia", sells for over £100 these days.
Another one of those I bought at time of release not thinking anything about future value.

You got a great deal if it was only "a few years ago" then! I sold my Billy Joel GH NM pressing for $35 when I got the MoFi set in 2017 for $35. Not surprised prices have gone up from there. (Probably gonna sell the MoFi set at some point, those prices are insane and TBH most of the songs sound better on the individual 70s and 80s pressings.)

Yet other than Van Morrison, singer/songwriter albums from the golden era remain dirt cheap. Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Carole King, some of the best music from the era seems to have completely flown over the heads of the younger vinyl collectors. Even Joni Mitchell with the exception of the Blue album aren't making much of an impression on them. Go figure.

Now's the time to buy. It only takes one word from Taylor or Billie.

It's kind of annoying in some ways, how much some of this used vinyl is going for. I understand "it's what the market will bear," and if you got the extra cash to splurge, go right ahead. Will just have to wait for reissues...

Ha...earlier today I took 19 albums to a used media store that buys vinyl. Most of this stuff I found in the dollar bins back in the day. They gave me $82.91 (cash). I know, a strange amount.

5 years ago I would have just dropped these off at Goodwill.

One of those was a KISS Hotter Than Hell Bogart with a 3 inch gash which makes side one unplayable.

It will probably get snagged by a hipster for $40 who will hang it on his wall.

    Crazy times.

Nuts. I'll have to remember that. Usually I permanently remove stuff like that from circulation.
A few years ago a co-worker gifted me a couple Aussie AC/DC's. One was unplayable, and the cover was pretty bad. -The cover got recycled and the LP was pitched.

The Cars S/T and Candy-O, once LPs that could be had for $8-10, are now commanding $20-$30.

Speaking as a gen x’er, perhaps you’re right.

but what generation do hipsters belong to anyway? I always thought they were boomers.

I don't even try to keep up with those designations. To me it's just "The Greatest Generation" and "Baby Boomers" and then you have everyone else that came after 1964.:magoo:

I certainly wouldn't want to pay that for it, but Eddie Rabbit was a pretty darn good artist back in the day. His Top 40 Country singles were a highlight on the radio. I'm just sayin'.
