Are we waiting for the 9th Anniversary of the 2018 mix on the album's 50th Anniversary in 2027?

New book on the way in August just in time for release of the new album.

New Pink Floyd book documents the band's Animals tour

Does this guy know something we don't about a pro mixed live recording from the Animals tour?? As far as I know, they didn't record any of the shows, and the only "official" recordings are low fi monitor mixes.

  6. Of course they didn't. But, to be fair to Glenn, it's not him claiming that.
It's the article by Loudersound (credited to a Jerry Ewing of Prog magazine)

As an aside, Glenn Povey's books are usually of a high standard (e.g. Povey & Russell's In the flesh - the complete performance history). It remains to be seen if he ends up being the only one honouring the album's 45th anniversary. Let's hope the band joins him too. ;)

Also, the book's deluxe edition (eye-wateringly expensive as it may be) does come close to what an official PF "Animals 2018 remix" 2022 boxed set could look like, doesn't it? (minus the marbles)

I wrote to Glenn the other day who confirmed that there won't be a live recording included with the release.

I'm wondering whether to order the 99 GBP version of the book. The memorabilia looks like some of the stuff that was included in his other book - "The Treasures of Pink Floyd". Any idea on what the complete contents are? That would help me decide!

On a side note, I hope it is a little more objective than whoever came up with the description text for the book. "Roger Waters in particular reviving those tracks to shoehorn into his own politically charged live solo shows in recent years." Far from shoehorning, I think it highlights the fact that the album is as relevant as ever.

The album absolutely transcends the politics of its day. Much of the later work by its song writers, working independently, has unfortunately not stood up as well given the test of time

I'd just play the Oakland '77 live bootleg instead...

Oh wow! I didn’t see those shots at first.
They could probably ditch the DVD though, since it’s 2022.

Animals is one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums. Let's hope this deluxe set sees the light of day.

Yes, that for the hipsters, but we might also be onto 8K discs by the time it ever comes out
