Oh, grumpf! I half-expected the LP would only come in a big boxes of (for me) redundancies. Maybe sometime in 2023 the LP will be released on its own. But I might buckle and buy the box in September instead. Grump, gripe, grump!
The lp will be released separately. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B51HHL2...colid=338BTL57RZ8Z&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
It looks messed up because it has the LP listed as disc one and disc two instead of side one and side two etc....
I actually thought this was a joke on the first reading. While they were at it, why not include the 1987, 1992, and 1994 CD mixes? Which all sound more or less identical to all the other remixes and remasterings included on this set. Yeesh -- my favorite Floyd album, and this release is a total pass for me.
They should have made some very minor adjustments just so they could call it "2022 Remix". Seems weird spotlighting a "2018 remix" four years after the fact.
Maybe a promotional EP with excerpts from the LP ? Or maybe they automatically determined that it’s an EP because there’s only 5 songs
I have to assume it's the latter. As for Apple Music, hopefully, they will also have the 5.1 mix available in Dolby Audio.
My guess is that they opted not to release an Immersion edition to have more unreleased & rare stuff left for a Middle Years box. One article regarding the potential sale of the Pink Floyd catalogue to Warner or BMG mentioned a 10 year release plan...
Good to see the Hoffman Cycle is alive and well. Currently at 3. 1. Release possibility = Outlandish speculation 2. Release confirmation = Getting furious about omissions. 3. Release details = Getting furious about formats. 4. Release dispatch = Getting furious about shipping delays. 5. Release = Getting furious about sound or packaging quality. 6. Next release = Not as good as the last one. Go to 1. Repeat.
Guess that’s the most likely explanation. One track shouldn’t make a difference in buying calculus. You like what’s here or you don’t. Still an odd one since it’s just that one track. Maybe someday…it BETTER show up on Middle Years!
Why is anyone surprised that there are no bonus tracks? @rontoon has been telling us for four years in the other thread that there won't be anything new except for a remix.
When you paste long Amazon links, they tend to get messed up. In my case, what opened was this: Amazon.de : Animals (2018 Remix) In other words, it redirected me to the German Amazon, and searched for "Animals"... So, it's always advised to remove everything after the Amazon ASIN if you want the link to work for everyone.
I'm surprised because in order to release a "Deluxe" set, you need something "Deluxe" to add to it. Otherwise, just release the remixed album like any other release. But at least (unlike Rush), they are letting you buy what you want separately. I have the latest vinyl version so have no interest in this one. I'll either pick up the Blu-Ray or SACD if it ever get's announced.
At the very least they could have put the complete version of Pigs On The Wing on it. I have been waiting for the 5.1 for so long now it's ridiculous, so I'll get this, but somewhat begrudgingly at this stage. This is a lazy set..... and typically the only thing that's really new is the 5.1 locked away with three other formats I don't need.... oh well....
I’m expecting the official site to have some interesting bundles? I’ve never purchased from the official site. I wasn’t expecting a separate Blu ray release. That’s nice as most surround mixes get packaged in a big expensive box. I’m pleasantly surprised. But I like both vinyl and surround mixes so, for my favourite PF album, I’m getting the deluxe.
