Only it wasn't a MoFi release... MoFi mastered Lotus for Sony Records Int'l in Japan.

 

But I didn't buy that because they said it was digital. (Also I have original Dutch press and the Speakers Corner version.) Wax Cathedral were from digital. I bought the R&L Thompson and though it sounds really good it does sound digital to me against known analogue pressings.

 

The Bellmans are in just about every Walmart in America right now. The whole DLR years are with replica backstage badges inside. Release date was 6/1/22. Walmart Exclusives. Same stampers. Sound awesome. I only needed Diver Down, Fair Warning and Women and Children First. About $27 each.

 

Yeah, I've been watching that. The only low res PCM so far are things that's were recorded that way.

 

You mean, Plastic Ono Band and Mind Games LPs from 2003 or 2004 are cut from digital ?

 

They use Ono remixes which would be digital.

 

Page 600 is where I’m allowed to jokingly gloat that the only mofi title I own turns out to be one of the only 4 AAA they made.

 

I don't pay a premium for digitally sourced vinyl. I'll buy it, but it has to be at the entry level price.

 

Whats even more ironic is that of the 4 AAA's theyve done one of them is mastered like poop.

 

No problem with any of this... as long as it's disclosed so the customer can make an educated decision.

In the case of the Lennon records, MFSL did disclose it so no issues there.

 

Plastic Ono Band, Imagine and Mind Games were remixed (supposedly to hi-res digital) in the late 90's/early 00's. That's what MoFi was given by the label, because those remixes were the new standard back then.

 

I see both Mikes ( in groove-45rpm). IMO, The others not so much of the vinyl YouTubers ( some have many followers). Fremer is the most influential of the “ pro” audio reviewers for vinyl/ analog. I use to subscribe to quite a few, The two Mikes are the only two I still subscribe. Every one of them does the same thing ( look what I found, 10 albums this and that, etc). Quite redundant. I do like many of the various gear reviewers.

 

Who are "them" ?
AFAIK, Tim de Paravicini and Paul Stubblebine always acted as freelance engineers and advisers.
Paul S. has his own mastering facility and the late Tim de P. was an audio hadware gourou who founded EAR Yohino, a high-end hifi brand.
AFAUK again, MoFi never did any Sinatra's in the Music Direct era.

So, have MoFi just given up with updating their website? I was hoping that we'd get a list that would cover every release since this charade begun, not just the few titles they currently have on sale.

 

The one thing that has (I believe) never come up is, "who are/were AZMike sources?". Because they were solid. So much I suspect it was the engineers themselves. How else would you dare to go public like that, without fear of getting sued up the wazoo... OTOH, some information has come out about MoFi Jim Davis ( to distinguish from Garfield Jim Davis!) being a terrible boss, so it might have been anyone.

BUT
For someone to come up the video with such a statement... had to have been someone incontrovertible... The engineers? Jim Davis himself?

Does it matter? probably not. But very curious...
