Bought in memory of Peter Brook (who died last week)?

For those unfamiliar with the work, it is one of the landmark theatre productions of the 1960s.

London CS 6419, issued 11/64. Recorded 7/16-18/64, Kingsway Hall, London. Producer: John Culshaw. Engineer: Gordon Parry. The insert note from Rostropovich seems to indicate this copy was a thank-you for support of the National Symphony in Washington, D.C., where he was music director 1977-94. The back-cover photo of the London LP was the cover of the Decca LP. A note explains that the side with the Cello Symphony is 34 minutes & 50 seconds long " In the interests of musical structure and continuity", containing the entire work. They suggest it might be necessary to "increase your volume control slightly."
The sound doesn't seem to suffer.

I always keep coming back to Bruno Walter's Mahler Symphony no.9 recorded in Wien 16 jan. 1938 with the Wiener Philharmoniker.
I know the sound is not up to todays standard but wow what a performance.

I bought this entire set as SACDs except for one - the Mario Lanza disc. I just couldn’t see . . .

Have you ever listened to it?

I had that on vinyl in the 70s, repurchased it on CD on a Decca midline disc (where the lead item was Bolero), lost that somewhere, and reacquired it as part of the Delta Analog box. A great sounding recording.
