It is blurry and I have to go back to release dates to be sure... neither am I very proud of... Either carly simon-the spy who loved me or bay city rollers- the spy who loved me But my first lp was worse...kiss alive 2- later traded to my cousin for wings london town
I'm almost sure it was: McCartney/Wings Hi Hi Hi/C Moon. Solid red label, on Apple. Wings - Hi, Hi, Hi / C Moon
It was either Playground in My Mind by Clint Holmes or Candy Man by Sammy Davis Jr. Either way, I was 8 years old, and it was my mom who paid. (She paid, alright!)
In 1971 I bought Paul McCartney's "Uncle Albert" single -- for the B side, "Too Many People." I hated "Uncle Albert" and most of the "Ram" album but loved -- and still love -- "Too Many People."
Oh do I love her. What an adorable little chica. I assume you have the Pic-Nic lp. That's my favorite Jeanette
I was born in ‘76 but the first 45 I remember spinning was either The Beach Boys “Dance, Dance, Dance” or the Beatles “Penny Lane”. Both from my mom’s collection. I think they were both Capital records with the orange and yellow swirl. Started out right, I think.
Chick A Boom - Daddy Dew Drop? I forget which now, after all these years. It may well have been I Feel Fine or Come Together, or maybe even the Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose - Treat Her Like A Lady?
I don't know exactly which one, but I'm sure it's one of these: Waterloo - Abba Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas I Shot The Sheriff - Eric Clapton They're all pretty beat up 45s with no sleeves anymore. I think I probably got them from Memco for maybe 78 cents?
Awwww, I really like I'm Alive. All of the Xanadu tracks are great to me, especially All Over The World.
I bought several at once. Christmas 1972, I was 8. My dad gave me $5 and I told him I wanted to spend it on records. He took me to K-Mart (I think 45s were about 55 cents). Looking at the Billboard chart from December 30, 1972 I think the ones I bought were: "Me And Mrs. Jones" - Billy Paul, "Clair" - Gilbert O'Sullivan, "It Never Rains In Southern California" - Albert Hammond, "Your Mama Don't Dance" - Loggins & Messina, "Superstition" - Stevie Wonder, "I Can See Clearly Now" - Johnny Nash, "Summer Breeze" - Seals & Crofts, and "Rocky Mountain High" - John Denver.
Never had this on 45 but, damn, I sure remember when it was out and as big a hit as could be. Must have heard it 100 times a day. You couldn't escape it.
In fourth grade (1970) after lunch the teacher would play 45's that we brought in to class, and I remember bringing that one in, a few others too.
Not sure if these were the first but the first two I remember would be: Sister Mary Elephant by Cheech and Chong Smoking in the Boys Room by Brownsville Station
Not my first ever, but “Refugee” was the first 45 I bought as a teenager. I think my first was “Dark Lady” by Cher.
