Currently listening to McCartney & McCartney II in Spatial Audio / Dolby Atmos on Apple Music - curious if future archive releases will release with Atmos mixes...or if previous releases will receive them.

Future is my guess, as it's becoming a standard for streaming services like Apple Music. Whether they go backwards remains to be seen, but I don't want a repeat of the Sounds of Summer version from The Beach Boys which doesn't sound right at all (newer remixes aren't great there).

Agreed on Sounds of Summer - some of those are awful, but I would think Paul has higher standards for any new mixes.

Agree also that future will be the priority - but would be a lot easier for MPL to drop Atmos mixes of previous releases on anniversaries etc to get some attention rather than reprints/physical reissues. I guess we'll see with BOTR.

Those were actually recorded at Abbey Road in September 1974.
The Paris sessions were the year before, were mostly to record Linda McCartney songs such as "Wide Prairie" and "I Got Up".

Sorry if this was asked and I didn’t see the answer, but is the McCartney self-titled trilogy box set newly remastered?

Someone invents some reason why Back to the Egg is imminent and everyone gets excited, then someone else invents some reason why Back to the Egg couldn't possibly be imminent or even coming in the next year and everyone gets disappointed. You guys are fun.

And everyone sounds like they have some very broad super special secret information they are privy too, so when some little tid bits come out they can say “told you so!”

    You know the drill.

By the way I read the McCartney III thread I missed out in my absence and major props to @mrjinks for that one. That was cool.

I'm salivating for all mixes of "Waterspout" that were ever done!!!

  18. Really? I think it’s just dumb. Infantile lyrics that are either about a schlong or a bong, depending on your interpretation. The music is ok, but let’s face it, Waterspout is not some kind of lost classic.

I don't care about lyrics. This is Paul McCartney we're talking about. Give me an ear catching tune, some nice harmonies and I'll be your fan!

Yeah Waterspout is the reason why I'm salivating for a London Town archive release I'll take BTTE later if I have to.

Rough mix. I’m not a bootleg guy, but I’ve never heard this before. He really knew what to add to spice up a song. I’m very familiar with the 1980 mix, and there’s so many little moments missing here from various overdubs.

It never occurred to me that “Waterspout” wouldn’t be high on a McCartney fan’s list of favorites. It’s one of my favorite McCartney songs/tracks ever. Once it gets into the bridge, it’s McCartney at his best - just relentlessly melodic in a way that only he can do. I feel similar about “Girlfriend” and “Daytime Nighttime Suffering”.

Waterspout probably isn't the worst thing he recorded during his golden years, but it is definitely the worst one we know about.

What is it that the kids today say? "If you find a Waterspout, marry her?" Pretty sure it's something like that
