Most of us have probably left it spinning overnight, just add it to the hours and try not to do it too often
Unfortunately no jest. Think I also remember leaving it on one day before going to work. Think I saw someone here forgot to turn off their table before leaving for vacation, that's a bit more worrisome
No problem it's happened to me, I have the Bronze but if you are enjoying the Blue just replace the stylus when its time. Some folks think the Blue is the sweet spot of the 2M family.
I do have an obscene amount of disposable income. But methinks better spent on a car. Maybe the blue is not cutting it. I have a great Davie Bowie record here cut at half speed. And my ****ty rig is letting it down.
Spitfire, it was quite the horrific find. Lord knows how long it was there. Taking what damage. All I know is I should probably upgrade to be safe.
i would not worry too much if the run out was fairly clean. The blue is a great cart in my opinion. (just spinning some Gerry Rafferty with mine)
To add to everyone else's comments......Don't worry ! Nothing will have happened to the stylus. Move along.....
The dead wax loop is more "friendly" to the stylus than the rest of the record where the music exists. It is basically a smooth groove that continues as a loop. Grooves with music have twists and turns and undulations that can wear a stylus and suspension more than a smooth flat groove. In other words- less harmful than a playing a full record. No harm, keep on rocking....
Just one hour is not a big deal; most styli last 500 to 1000 hours. But some people do it every side for like 10 minutes, side after side… in those cases it’s probably wise to get an automatic tonearm lifter, to prolong the stylus lifespan. Nice way to make vinyl powder lol Did it grind through the record?
I fall asleep all the time. Blue is a nice cart if you match it with a good phono stage. I upgraded my phono stage and would still be using the Blue but my new cart was already in the mail.
