last time i recall seeing the recalled HDCD one on ebay was a couple of years ago, the seller started it at $100, no idea what it sold for.
Stunning fact: the song Time Fades Away has only ever been played live once in Europe - and I was there. Oberhausen, Germany, in 2008.
Not as rare as the track Berlin (or might be After Berlin). Only played the once. Guess where it was played.
I saw a display of sawcut copies at a used CD store famous for getting promotional copies before street date. I passed on it because I didn't like the sawcut on digipaks . . .
confused you say "saw cut digipaks", but if i recall correctly the HDCD 'time fades away; was released as a promo CD with no artwork whatsoever.
I know I don't have a photo, but I'll go to my grave convinced this memory is correct! This place also sold bootlegs, so I'm probably conflating multiple releases I saw that day . . .
Thanks, deleted that post. This appears to be the right one and it’s in a mini LP sleeve. popsike.com - NEIL YOUNG TIME FADES AWAY CD - VERY RARE 1995 HDCD Mini LP - auction details
no, i know there were than 25, the company wanted the stores to return the promos, and i've no idea how many actually got sent back, i would imagine most store owners kept them or sold them.
So. Bit of a thread dig. Still wondering if this will actually be released. Amazon and JPC still have 23 September release date. Still so weird that NY posted he did not know about it.
Got Time Fades Away and Eldorado quite easily on ebay last year..For about the same money the new re-issues are priced at.
Dang. Must have missed that. edit: found it! Here's the post on the LTTE on NYA website: Neil Young Archives
Perhaps he was referring to the ORS2 box? Anyway, pre-ordered it at Amazon. Think I paid 20 euro for it, but at this point, I don't care about a few euro anymore, I don't want to run the risk of it going out of print again.
Yes the new versions of Eldorado are available now.The new Time Fades Away is currently available for pre-order.Not sure of the release date. Time Fades Away was originally released by Resprise in 2007.I have a copy but it was an unofficial release so not sure how many copies were produced.
IIRC, it was originally intended to release Time Fades Away on CD in the mid 1990s, but it got shelved and only promo CDs were issued. The first official CD release of Time Fades Away was in the ORS2 box set in 2016. Everything else is a bootleg. I remember seeing once a Neil Young twofer containing On the Beach. It appeared to predate the first official CD release in 2003. I'm not sure if I saw Time Fades Away in a similar twofer or not.
