LOL. The thought also crossed my mind. I kinda wish it were true. I think the vinyl heads are being ungrateful, cry babies. They are essentially getting their limited resolution format improved by being cut from a sonically superior one (DSD). Yet the (free) gift has not been received well. Egos are imploding! Lot's of tears are being shed over spilled milk!
I think so. I was also hoping it might create a market demand for 4x DSD download files, or possibly on a blu-ray like the PCM files on Reference Recording’s HRx series were on DVD
You only have 426 pages (and counting) to catch up on from the past 12 days Mobile Fidelity has been cutting vinyl from digital since a long time ago..*
I only watched the initial video from the first post but LMAO I was never into vinyl because the whole culture is full of snake oil, the only thing I like about people being into vinyl again is that it's bringing young people into listening to the sound of the music they love (and ideally, urging them to train their ears, maybe get better speakers etc...) I do like DSD on the other hand. But I'd never go convincing people that it sounds inherently better, I go into it to satisfy my archival OCD - I always want to have the best available digital release that hasn't been rewashed a dozen times, and since SACDs generally stem from the original tapes, I go for that. Can I hear that it's sourced from the original? Absolutely not I personally think the mastering is the alpha and omega, the rest is less important, be it PCM or DSD
With 3 1/2 months left in 2022, the tally at hraudio.net already surpassed a 400 titles increase since the beginning of this year. There is a very good change that 2022's total new releases will surpass that of 2021. Btw, Japan Universal Music just announced a 30+ titles reissue campaign that see many Deutsche Grammophon titles and J-pop titles getting the SACD treatment.
The few SACDs that I have sound great. I can hear the difference between these and the stock cds. Can's Ege Bamyasi sounds terrific on SACD and is far cheaper than buying an original copy or even an analogue reissue. I'd love to see more releases.
Is there a list of what those title will be? I did a search for it, but failed miserably. I’m interested in what the DG titles are.
All below SACD titles are being released on November 2, 2022 and they are all on SHM-SACD. You can find them here: CDJapan : Complete Listings | Music High Fidelity CD Format SACD
FINE!!!1!!1!! I'll cram an argument into one sentence: Expensive speaker cables make my MQA Beatles remasters sound better than my DSD-sourced vinyl rips, but of course, the original Japanese pressings sound the best
My good friend @bruce2 just shared the news with me that Analogue Productions will be releasing the Steely Dan catalogue on 9 Hybrid SACDs. Vinyl Records, SACDs, DVD Audio, Audiophile Equipment|Acoustic Sounds With this announcement, AP's (imminent) release of Pink Floyds "Animals" on SACD and the re-release of Michael Jackson's Thriller (the biggest selling album of all time) on SACD (by Mobile Fidelity), it seems that the SACD format is indeed undergoing a "resurgence." 2022 may be the biggest year for SACD yet! PS: I see that Pink's Floyd's "Animals" has been released today by Analogue Productions on Hybrid-SACD: Pink Floyd-Animals-Hybrid Multichannel SACD|Acoustic Sounds
All 9 Steely Dan albums have been confirmed by AP for release on SACD:Vinyl Records, SACDs, DVD Audio, Audiophile Equipment|Acoustic Sounds
You forgot to mention the 6 Van Halen SACDs and 2 more Eagles SACDs from MoFi. I also think there will be at least one more SACD release from Intervention Records for this year. I just received the SACD of Joe Jackson's "Summer in The City" from IR.
