DVDs and Blu Rays are so on the nose they'll be paying people to take them soon. Still, getting the Avengers made my day!
I'm not holding my breath by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd love to find his 'Country Music' film/documentary for that price...
In regard to Klinger, I liked him as a secondary character when he was wearing dresses and trying to buck the system. Once he became company clerk and wore the green Army garb all the time and basically gave in, he lost what made him funny.
Well worth my while going to Leyland this morning. Clockwork Orange, at the Children's Society shop, part of a mix of 3 CDs/DVDs for £1 Porridge, Series 3 & The Plank, at Mind, 2 for £1 At AgeUK I found The Railway Children/Swallows And Amazons on one disc, 99p Dont Look Back, 49p Jimi Hendrix: Feedback - 2 disc, 49p
My latest batch: • Northern Soul • Gangster Squad • The Ides of March • Slow West Any good stuff here?
A quick glance at the names of the lead actors in 'Slow West' had me having to look closely at the one on the left. The M in Smit looked quite like a H at first.
Decent scores at Play It Games and Movies today, about $4 a piece: The Lost Weekend Heller In Pink Tights Requiem For A Heavyweight Simon Of The Desert (Criterion) Five Easy Pieces The Passenger Full Metal Jacket Killing Zoe The Muse
Great movie, one of my favourites. Have you seen it? The book is even better. It has a downbeat ending that the movie omits but it's still a fantastic film.
Yes, the movie is a favorite of mine too. This will replace a dvdr copy I had. Not read the book, but will search out a copy on thriftbooks today, thanks for the recommendation!
kd lang - Live In London $1.00 The Newsroom Complete Second Season $1,50 Oppo OPDV911H $5.99 I had never seen any type of Oppo player in a thrift before. I know it’s quite dated and not top of the line, but there was no way I was not taking it home at that price. The trick will be explaining to my wife why we need another DVD player (should she happen to notice it’s’ presence. The young lady at the till: “O-P-P-O. I’ve never heard of that before.” Me: “Yeah. You don’t see them at Goodwill very often.”
After a long drought on the DVD front, finally had some luck this week for both the classic Hollywood and forgotten 80's sides of my collection (with a bit of crossover into the early 90's with 80's stars ). All at $1-2 The Grace Kelly box is sealed. Damn Yankees has been on my watch list from the beginning. "Whatever Lola Wants" is one of the great scenes from any musical ever. The Garbage Pail Kids movie is so forgotten 80's that I didn't even remember it existing.
Heck yes you're going to pick up an Oppo player for $6! Nice find! We do however need to work on the operational secrecy part. The correct answer in that situation is "yeah, probably some cheap Chinese junk, if you don't price them low, they'll never sell. If you have any more Oppo stuff in the back, I suppose I'd consider buying those too, just to have a matching set. "
Yes, you’re quite right. I let the surprise of finding it get the best of me. Should another chance come along, I’ll try to be much cooler about it.
Black Adder Goes Forth and The Day The Earth Stood Still, both from Oxfam, Congleton, Cheshire, on Friday - 3 for £1, but I could only find two. Airplane II, Sherlock, and The World's Greatest Railway Journeys - Denmark and Sweden - except that there's not enough about the actual journeys, more about less interesting bits of places along the way. These three were part of a 6 for £1 deal at the League Of Friends shop, also Congleton; I got the three DVDs and one CD. The Hancock DVD came from AgeUK, Sandbach, part of a 3 for £1 deal.
I watched that one the day I got it. I've never seen it before, so I couldn't wait to see a movie with both a young Brando and Sinatra in it. It was the Strudel.
A while back up the thread, I mentioned that I was looking for the DVD version of discogs to catalog my DVDs. After a lot of searching, I ended up going with Library Thing. Not quite the equivalent of discogs, but good database and free. It's been around a long time and has good community support plus a sustainable business model.
