Why "World Record"? 'My' title is "The Flood"! Here are more suggestions/speculations about the album title: May 30: Neil Young Unreleased - NYU | Facebook -> "More Barn", "March", "Chrome Dreams III" July 7: Neil Young Unreleased - NYU | Facebook -> "New Music" or just "Music" July 30: Neil Young Unreleased - NYU | Facebook -> "Ghosts In The Grooves"
Definitely a bit more weirdness than the usual Neil Young upcoming-release discussion.... Part of the unique weirdness of this thread has been OP @jlf posting the alleged title and cover and info about song titles here — still the only place online with that information, as far as I can tell — along with coy assurances that his unnamed source(s) for this information are "legit." And so we wait amid the strange cloud of unknowing-for-sure.... I'm torn between wanting the info to be correct, which makes us the next best thing to Neil Young insiders, guys who know a guy who knows a guy — and wanting the slightly annoyingly hearsay info to be spectacularly and humorously dead wrong.
Yes, I believe he works for Rhino or Warner or is involved with them in some capacity. He’s shared a lot of good info about Joni releases.
Ah, this time not a vinyl leak but a information leak at Warner/Rhino. Thanks for the info. Mission accomplished...
There is a new youtube video interview with Rubin, Jack White and Neil Young as a special guest. Looks like it took place at the end of a 3-week session for the new album. Nuggets: Neil only plays electric guitar on two tracks. My guess is that those would be "break the chain" and "chevrolet". The rest are strange instrumentation Neil described "Pump Organ Funk" and "Harmonica played through an octave divider into the Fender deluxe". I've not finished the listen yet. Neil comes in around 54:20.
Uh oh, I’ll pony up my cash for whatever Neil wants to release. But only electric guitar on 2 tracks and a “ pump organ funk” sound. This could be a wild ride but in a good way. God bless Neil Young, long may he run.
Damn! They played a track from the new record but it’s cut from the podcast. I was all set to hear it. They introduce it and then it doesn’t happen
So wonderful. Thank you. You get an idea of the vibe of Neil’s upcoming album. Seems cool. Ricks interviews get my mind rolling. Wrote a bunch. Erased it. Two music lovers. Rick and Jack. Wide know what they love but open too. Such a cool interview. Thanks. Not the platform but Ricks interviews with others if you are open are stimulating. Eno, Missy, Johnny Echols. The love comes through. Less tribal. Not the engineer mind. Not quantified. So will clash with other way found plentifully.
I get the feeling they played the whole album for Jack. He commented that the last song was long. So sounds like Chevrolet is the closer. But it was early days and we know Neil went back in for some late changes, necessitating a forked release. We're all craving info here. Hard to tell whether Jack was wowed by the music or just being polite. He did comment that he thought the vocals sounded really clean. That would be an improvement. I still yearn for a late career high point that has an impact.
Love Earth Overhead I Walk With You (Earth Ringtone) This Old Planet (Changing Days) The World (Is In Trouble Now) Break The Chain The Long Day Before Walkin’ On The Road (To The Future) The Wonder Won’t Wait Chevrolet This Old Planet (Reprise)
We know from the Rubin-White podcast that the final (full) track is 13 minutes long, which would be Chevrolet based on previous NYA reports, so that checks out.
