Great fun indeed. A couple of years ago we did a covers album where we essentially did a mashup of Back In Black and Sheep Even greater fun. (Or rather we imagined that Back In Black was written by Pink Floyd, and then covered by us, as a sort of “meta cover” thing. It included a nod to Raving And Drooling just for good measure).
Yeah. When they reformed back in whenever it was , you thought all hatchets had been buried. Not so apparently. Same sort of thing happened with Simon & Garfunkel. Reunited to perform in Central Park. Arms around each other etc etc etc…..next thing they’ve had another massive fall out. I don’t get it. Am I just being naive and it’s all about the money? Surely not….they’re all so massively wealthy?
I can't speak for either of them [nor do I personally know them], but I think the Floyds are just too different to want to spend time with each other in their golden/twilight years - musically and socially. It's probably just too much work for them to be at ease with one another, given all the bad blood since 1985. Hell, I'm half their age and would rather spend a quiet evening at home with my wife than hang around with my old knucklehead friends.
Wow, that's a lot for Artie, given that he wrote none of the S&G songs, plus the size/success of Paul's solo catalogue.
Not expecting dead quiet. Just don’t want it to sound damaged. I buy 10-15 LPs a month. They are normally ok. This wasn’t.
Been buying vinyl since 86. Not part of the new generation. Pop and clicks are not acceptable. Not when they overpower the music. It’s a QC problem.
Did someone say Raving and Drooling? Where?.... Seriously though, I'd like to hear that, can you send me a link to something by any chance?
I stated some 30 pages ago that my copy was crackly at the beginning of both sides, and some odd distortion on the first quarter of Pigs. I just received a replacement and the beginning of both sides still have cracks and pops but at least this copy doesn't have distortion in that one part of Pigs. It sounds phenomenal otherwise. I'm debating whether I should try another replacement.
I finally heard the snare thing people are complaining about today, I'll try not to let it get to me.
Got a copy of the Shine On Animals CD from eBay. (it was very well taken care of) It seems to be first pressing US Release / with Columbia listed on CD artwork. DR #’s same as found on DrLoudness So this should be the Doug Sax edition. I liked the sound on it overall, I still love the LPCM 2.0 Original 77 version on the Blu-Ray audio I will need to listen to the SACD multi channel a lot more to determine if I like it more than first listens. I just really hate the things they took away like some of the cow bell, and the vocoder more than anything.
Yeah…I get that but you can at least be civil as opposed to slating each other in public surely? Well at least Mrs Infinity will be pleased you got the last bit the right way round!
Feels slower without it, doesn't it? cowbell-less clip: https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxr6VOCXWBVaSgTx4G8dO-g9BYOpoZ9HN0 As a rule of thumb, I tend to prefer it when remixes add subtle little things to a well-known original; selectively. But I find myself bothered when there are things removed from it. Having said that, I don't mind having a brief section without cowbell, for a change. It gets to show how much of a fundamental element it is to the song. I just don't feel this should have been a Guthrie decision (but then again, do I know if it was voted by the other 3? I don't.) /
maybe in a few weeks we will get a 'video documentary' with James, in nice black & white filter, explaining how he called Roger, and then Dave, and then Nick ...and Nick wasn't in, so he didn't pick it up The band will upload a video clip called "The missing cowbell" https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxLAi_EhnISulJ0jqQCSIbxJumNZL2EbBO "are you absolutely sure you sent us all the cowbell tapes?" /
