I used to use WOW HD when is was called CDWOW and I think it was then based somewhere in asia. It was then acquired by the same company that runs Deep Discount and ImportCDs called 'DirectToU' and they all ship from the same location and their prices vary. I've only ever had one problem with any of them and that is shipping return costs are not refunded and their customer service folk aren't quite as friendly or flexible as Amazon's - lol.
The one thing Amazon has over these companies is definitely customer service. Amazon's is next level.
Here's an interesting one: Sonny Rollins Way Out West (LP) $36 https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B000000YIP/ Not much info to go on but I think it's this one: Sonny Rollins - Way Out West It's not the Waxtime, that's here: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B003H5L6OO/ It's $100 from every other seller. A bit of a risk, but it could be very worth while. Any other info appreciated.
They were based in Hong Kong. And CDWOW was really cheap too. Yes Amazon customer service does trump the to rest mostly. Although I've had to return more damaged items to Amazon shipped in white bags, or on one case without any packaging at all apart from an address label!
It really is crazy. I had a few slightly dented CD box set items and 2 with broken lids and they were always happy to offer an partial refund. The most badly damaged item I got was the Leonard Bernstein 100 CD Sony Remastered Edition, which had dented corners and a torn and broken lid. I got it on sale for about $110, down from the usual ~$400 and the service rep in the live support chat refunded the full amount on the spot!
Currently $36.48, but out of stock. Put in an order anyway, but fear it could end up being up yet another cancelled one at their end!
The prices on many items I was interested in went up dramatically at some point after the takeover, I found.
I have this one. It is the OJC. Definitely worth buying at that price, those OJC's have been creeping up for a while now.
If I recall correctly, didn't they get done for for stock dumping, underpricing or selling into incorrect markets?
There’s a good chance you’ll get it. My notes show I received this from Amazon AU in Aug 2020 having paid $32.43.
This is about 1/2 of what it is usually listed at: John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (2LP) $55.82 https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08XLNTCKH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
