There must be tonnes of fictional bands out there, whether it be from TV, films or albums or whatever else.
I'll give a couple for starters.
    Sexual Chocolate, The New Originals.
There must be tonnes more out there. Go.....

  14. Can’t forget the Carrie Nations, from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. (EDIT: I see someone else also cited them while I was typing)

Also, on a similar front, here’s a thread I started a couple of years ago on “fictional music”, ie music created to exist in the reality of TV shows and movies:

What's your favourite piece of "fictional music"?

Interestingly, Otis Day and the Knights were a fictional band in Animal House, but DeWayne Jessie bought the rights and formed a real band under that name.

"Disaster Area" from the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy... "Disaster Area are a plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones and are generally regarded as not only the loudest rock band in the Galaxy, but also as being the loudest noise of any kind at all."

They came to my college back in the 80s! I remember I was confused how a fictional band could be touring as a real one. I didn’t actually attend the gig but apparently original Knights bassist (and blues guitar great) Robert Cray didn’t show up.

I think that's a great film, with some great songs.

Vesuvius from the film 'The Rocker'. I mainly bought the film for the Pete Best cameo, but there are some decent mock commercial hard rock songs there.

The other, more indie styled, band in the film A.D.D. is good too. In the soundtrack the songs are credited to actor Geiger.

I don't know if The Blues Brothers were ever a fictitious band. They certainly didn't remain one.

EDIT: Just for completeness sake. here's the Pete Best Cameo from 'The Rocker'. Apparently Pete had a line but it was cut and I've never seen the 'extra' with his line.
