Anyone seen & liked these movies. I saw the first one & was surprised that I liked it better than I thought. A gorier, more brutal slasher film than Halloween or Friday the 13th.
I didn't like the first one that much - too much of a standard issue slasher/gore movie 0verall. The Art the Clown character is appropriately creepy though and the guy who plays him exploits this well, and I hope the sequel makes better use of him. I think I'm going to have to see it based on the hype alone.
My cousin's kid is in the film and I will likely be seeing it this weekend. Budget was 250k and has mad over 6m--not bad! It's opening wide on over 1,000 screens! Dan
Love Terrifier…not for fans that dislike body horror though. He definitely makes Pennywise look tame. Looking forward to #2. For those new to Art The Clown, he was first seen in All Hallows Eve.
Crazy due to the fact that it was majority-crowdfunded. The $250K was entirely Indiegogo, though the wiki does imply that some private financiers are also onboard.
All I can add is my Cinemark is showing it but because it's unrated that limits it to shows after 6. Oh wait, they added matinee shows for the weekend.
Part 2 will be a Screambox exclusive starting 10/31. I was going to try to catch T2 in a theater but it's kind of a long commute. Pure Horror | Screambox
Apparently part 2 is so disturbing that people are vomiting in the cinema. I've heard that claim before....
I watched part 2 tonight. The first one was kind of silly fun but this one was knee deep in torture porn that I don't have much of a taste for. I would agree 100% with this reviewer. Terrifier 2 (2022) | MovieFreak.com A highlight: Terrifier 2 makes no sense. I’m pretty sure that’s on purpose, writer-director Damien Leone’s mad, grotesquely epic sequel to his strangely popular 2016 cult splatter favorite a gargantuan WTF stunner that’s one gross-out sequence after another with only the tiniest fragments of plot holding it all together. It’s 138 minutes of blood-soaked insanity, so distastefully excessive even my horror-loving heart had trouble enduring it all from start to finish.
As a longtime horror fan, I found things to enjoy about both movies. But I still think the 2011 short film "Terrifier" is far better than either of the movies, it legitimately creeped me out - no small accomplishment!
Why would you even want to watch these movies? Gross. I couldn't even stand the head in a vice scene in Scorsese's "Casino." There's no need for that crap in the movies.
Really? The vice scene from Casino? That's practically some PG-rated family friendly content in comparison to what else is out there. Maybe you just should stick to Pixar movies and such if you're that easily disturbed.
That’s an interesting question. I don’t usually go for anything this extreme but the buzz & hype about this kind of sucked me in. I’m usually on the lookout for a horror movie that is actually scary. I thought this might be one of them but it’s just sadistic & disgusting. Kind of like a very well made Rob Zombie movie.
It was just a shame that such low-grade garbage made it into a Scorsese movie. Wanna see a well directed scary scene with taste? chainszw scene in Scarface. Didn't need to see some gory appliances squirting blood for cheap thrills. Suggestion.
Yeah, it’s interesting. Horror movies are more likely to activate the limbic system and fight or flight response. So if I have anxiety about the future I can express that fear via the proxy of a movie. The more disgusting a kill, the more that excites the disgust reaction and the feeling of wanting to get away. If you’re in a more excitable state, you’re communicating more with the unconscious fears that sit in the back of head and don’t necessarily get expressed in day to day life. Just like a dream might play out a real life scenario I have fears about in the safety of a virtual state of mind. But for you, that horror movie effect may not hold any value. You may express your anxiety and fears differently, and so films like this serves no purpose. It’s certainly not for everyone.
Or you could just like movie effects so the bloodier and the nastier a kill is- the more fascinating the “making of” is. Assuming it’s not CGI of course.
That was me as well. Tom Savini was like a rockstar to me as a kid. It’s a fascinating art. Terrifier 1 appears to be all practical effects, which definitely had me a thinking about how certain effects were achieved.
