Sounds nice! It has totally the sound of that line-up of the band and that era...

  8. Since it doesn’t seem to play for me here (in the US), I presume this is the same song — which seems to be on the official Cure channel on YouTube..

Version of End from Paris 1992 (one of the same concerts that the Paris live album came from) from the Deluxe edition. Sounds great and actually a lot like the mixes from the era rather than a modern remix, which to me suggests that they originally had mixed more tracks from the Paris concerts than were released at the time...

Wow the snare actually sounds like a snare and not mixed to sound like Jason's cardboard box snares. Nice!

I don't think 'End' comes from a different mix for this...it's just that 'Show' sounds hollow, dull on cd/tape, BUT 'Paris' and all those songs there stand out on quality sound since day one on cd...then can't hold a candle though to 'Entreat' either original version or remastered.

Yes, that's what I mean, I think this mix comes from the same mix session as Paris. It has that same sound, so they probably mixed more tracks at the time than the ones that made it to the final CD. I agree Paris sounds better than Show as well. I do like Show, but Paris is just better sounding (maybe the room acoustics? maybe the mixing was just more inspired?).

Entreat (original) does sound very nice too, but the remix I like less, it feels like a bit of a rush job and the original mix aesthetics (loud 80s drums!) is probably more in sync with the original performances)

I have always liked Paris over show because of the performances and the track list, which is amazing.

It’s probably my favourite Cure album. I love how it transitions from the really dark stuff to quirky pop. And the early stuff sounds so good played by the Wish band.

I'm not a big fan of live albums, but Paris is a favourite of mine. As you say the tracklist is interesting, with fantastic versions of songs from Seventeen Seconds and Pornography in particular. This is definitive take of "At Night"! The studio version sounds very lame. I also had the pleasure of hearing that song live myself some years ago. I agree that the sound quality is very good on this live album.

I don't have a physical copy of Show, and I haven't only listened to it a few times so I can't really compare the sound.

Yeah, Robert said he wanted 17 Seconds to be like Elvis Costello's 'My Aim Is True', which I know absolutely nothing about, but apparently in terms of being very sparse.

It sounds like he got it, but I agree really all of 17 Seconds sounds extremely tame. Tame, rather than lame, although I get what you mean.

The Paris versions of At Night and In Your House would suggest Robert possibly regretted that spritely sound.

17 Seconds is one of my least listened to Cure albums, just as it sounds like it was recorded on toy instruments for the most part, even though the songs are really good.

Just threw on Paris, it's been a while since I listened to it - the last two minutes of "One Hundred Years" is great -- a "Purple Haze" riff at the end?

Show sounds very good and has a good greatest hits-type setlist with many Wish songs. Only pity is they left out the encore, with rarity "To wish impossible things" and an excellent version of "A forest". Both the CD and the VHS video are highly recommended if you like Paris.

Paris is basically a couple of songs from Wish that were not in the Show setlist plus a collection of rare songs that were mostly played in the encores in that era. I find it a bit hit and miss, but it does have monumental versions of The figurehead, At night and an excellent sound throughout. If only that lineup had stayed together...

An expanded Paris would be great. There are some great tracks that were played in those 3 shows that would fit such as Faith, M, The Big Hand and Three Imaginary Boys.

Got a notification from the Cure/Universal store today that my payment was declined and my order was cancelled for the Wish 2xLP vinyl. I think I entered a card incorrectly or something. Anyway, I was pissed until I realized that Deep Discount has the album available for only $35 with free shipping (plus a 10% off promo code that basically cancelled out the extra tax charge for me.) This is a whopping $20 cheaper than buying it off the Cure store!

    My only concerns are:
The shipment date listed on Deep Discount is in January, while the Cure store has 11/25.
The Cure store states there are only 300 some left available... Would DD have these already, or how does their pre-order system work?

I got the same notification today. I figured it was just me, but apparently not. I ended up placing an order with popmarket, which ended up $15 cheaper than ordering from the Cure direct anyway. Very strange. I’m assuming the January ship date is the actual release date and the Cure store never updated their listing

As I understood it originally, the November date was for CD and standard vinyl everywhere else other than the US. The picture disc version is being released in the US on 11/25 and the US date for non-picture disc vinyl is in January. All this may have changed though since the original announcement, not sure. In any case, I wouldn't be worried about the Jan date.
